Anyone else been watching the second season of Rings of Power? Just finished the last episode of the season and thought the season was epic.
Yes, I just finished the last episode too. It’s all going rather well for Sauron, and for Pharazôn too, isn’t it? Loads of unanswered questions though, including: 1. Where the **** is Celeborn, Galadriel’s husband? 2. Who the **** is Adar supposed to be? Is he an Elf, or what? All in all, I love it, and I’m particularly pleased that Tom Bombadil has appeared. Hopefully the River-Daughter will show up in Season 3.
Talking of Sauron, Charlie Vickers is some actor. He's filling the desire I've always had since watching the LOTR movies and watching Sauron's villainy as something more than an eye on top of a tower. His manipulation of Celebrimbor was just cold, calculated and ruthless. I look forward to Sauron becoming even more powerful in the next series.
Did you see the “Inside…” thing featuring Charlie Vickers and Charles Edwards, who plays Celebrimbor? Really interesting insights into how the chemistry between the two actors helped to create that feeling of manipulation you mention. If this series follows the path of the Akallabêth, as I hope it does, then I’m guessing Season 3 will be Nùmenor attacking and capturing Sauron, and Season 4 will be Sauron manipulating Pharazôn into attacking the Undying Lands. Can’t wait!
No I didn't - will have to check that out. I haven't read the books that this series is covering so I don't know what happens between now and Sauron forging his ring. Presumably the last series will conclude with the great battle in Mordor where Sauron is defeated. So a lot of these characters were completely new to me in series 1. Took a while for me to get into it (first few episodes of S1 I didn't have a clue what was going on mostly!) but so glad I perserved with it.
A friend of mine went to Canada to escape his alcoholism, unfortunately it all went wrong as he got off the plane in Montreal when he saw a great big sign that said "Drink Canada Dry ".
Looks like a new COVID variant, descended from Omicron, is about to hit the UK. Named XEC and is said to be more contagious than the other ones still circulating and already accounts for around 20% of current cases. Also on COVID ultra powerful MRI scanners indicate that Long COVID is associated with part of the brain stem that is linked to fatigue, breathlessness and anxiety, being affected by the virus.
I think the fact that very few residents, if any, have stayed in the Tampa area just emphasizes how big a storm this hurricane is. Normally, quite a few residents board up their windows, stock up on supplies etc and stay and ride it out. Thankfully the majority seem to have followed the evacuation order. 8 tornadoes gave already formed ahead of Hurricane Milton hitting the Florida coast. If Tampa takes a direct hit, well, God help anyone who is still in the city.
Head for the hills! The trouble is, every other named location in Britain has a similar wind speed. It is, apparently, a software issue with the BBC weather app, but it still looks worrying. I blame global warming
