My commitment to LM remains but if the team continues to stagnate and drift obviously change would be necessary, I think Steve Lansdown should take a serious look at the way Junior and BT are developing our future, that is where our weakness stems from.
I don’t think Manning is the answer, I’m afraid he appears out of his depth, same tactics week in week out, and unable to adapt in game, like you I don’t think a replacement will be any better whilst JL and BT are in charge of finding a replacement. SL needs to step in and move both on. If we are looking like getting relegated I think he will, purely to protect his investment. Otherwise it ain’t happening unfortunately.
These failings could, and have been accused of each of our managers over the last decade. So, is our expectation as fans too high, or does our board just appoint the wrong people time after time? Really not sure in the answer, or your expectations form our manager?
Mr Manning's team plays possession football. With the backing received I would expect more fluency, improvement. The signings don't appear to be improving the passing football. The team is disconnected, Twine the marquee signing is barely involved because the passing football passes to him infrequently, Bird is not playing regularity, Armstrong runs lines and his hold up play isn't bringing players into game efficiently, he also is a bit of non finisher of chances. The keeper, the CB's and CDM's? Mr Manning wants a dominant possession game, but doesn't have the key players to do so to a high level, and after the spending £10m plus it appears the team lacks key players to improve the possession football. Not good!
Some good, fair and balanced points. In his defence, like it or not, he has his style of football and identity that he is getting across to the players, and we as fans can see what he’s trying to do. Something we didn’t have before him, there was no clear identity or style to our play. It will take time to implement and work smoothly.
Next 10 games i see very little from that lot 2/3/4 points max that is going to put us well and truly bottom three even Cardiff will have overtaken us by then. Change now and before we come back from the break.
I think he works on keeping possession with the emphasis on possession over attack. I think his plan is to draw the opposition out and then hit and hurt them on the break with a goal ….. …… except we rarely hit them with a goal. Metaphorically we slap them feebly with a bunch of wet celery, which doesn’t hurt them at all. Basically a wordy version of what RP just posted!!
If the worst happens and Manning has to go, I’m sure there would be lots of CVs coming into BS3 Lots of people want the chance to manage in one of the best leagues in the world But unfortunately I can only foresee quantity over genuine quality as I’m sure the owner and clubs reputation count against us when it comes to such appointments
Possession without identity. I think Mr Mannings football, the model of play is to play possession football that is positional. The team is seeking to play possession football, and attempting to move the opposition creating numerical superiority in possession, and attempting to get the opponents imbalanced to progress the football in attack through the thirds building from the back, and using sometimes width and depth and at times altering to a box midfield shape in the second third with the full backs providing width. I think this, but I do not know because its not truly evident what the intent of Mr Mannings football is. There are players who are not fitting the football by some way. The football is a mess of ideas that conflict with the abilities of the players. The players cannot uphold the identity of the team. Its wet fousty celery.
When we signed Armstrong and Fally, I felt selling Conway was excellent business. I know we didn't have a choice, TC wanted away, but I'm certain TC would have scored more than Armstrong or Fally, especially the numerous 1 on 1s that Armstrongs has missed. £6million for Armstrong and Fally.........right now looks a terrible waste. Whether we blame Tinnion and co or Manning for these signings I'm at an absolute loss what Manning sees in Mehmeti and makes me question Manning's football judgement. Supcon says 'at least he has a go'.........and we're supposed to be grateful ? Ffs he's a bloody show pony. He is utterly useless and a total passenger and yesterday was classic Mehemeti. Up top we are useless Fally, Mehmeti and Armstrong are probably as good a reason as any. Sykes and Yu, as yet, doesn't inspire me either. Every now and again 1 might score or play well, but consistently, you're having a laugh. Whatever system or manager we have isn't going to take us anywhere because of the 11 who take the pitch every week. We ain't good enough.
Knock it around the back a bit then welly it down the side for Armstrong to run after. THIS IS MANNING BALL.
If the present manager is failing it’s a legitimate view that we should get rid. It’s for the hierarchy to find a better replacement surely?
Has Manning lost the dressing room or just the support of individual players, especially the fringe players who want to be in the starting eleven? Armstrong looks to be a lost soul out there and he always looks like he is ticked off with the world. Perhaps a lot of the players have lost whatever plot we are using due to their not playing in their comfort zone and normal position. I am not in favour of changing managers until that time is so bloody obvious and necessary because when you back at our history of employing managers that may not be up to the task then why bother? Nothing I have seen this season gives me any more confidence that our current manager is truly qualified for the task at hand and if this form continues his departure must surely come before the end of November. I have no problem with Liam taking the job because perhaps hiring a relatively unknown quantity may have proved to be an enlightenment, but it doesn't look to be turning out to be that way. Frustration is the order of the day but that can only last so long before it becomes a tsunami of discontent in the seats.
Someone needs to be accountable for our impotent strike force Armstrong is big and strong and runs the channels And that’s the limit of his ability Sorry, but it’s true
