Reading the thread by TVI about fans expectations got me thinking about identifying with our team, our squad, not about Bruce this one but about my team, is it is the question.

Well its a SSN day today and I'm 100% confident that MON will be named our new manager today, make that 120%.

Funny how my mind works, I have never been a MON fan but now he is to be our manager I'm exited and ready. Some saw my positive outlook as a fault when trying to see the good side of Bruce I'm sure it will be a good thing now I support MON, I see it as always trying to find the positives, its served me well so far in my 63 years.

Anyhow, back to MON, and I must confess I have been heartened reading the comments from our brethren from the north. It seems all they can find to hit MON with his his spending, 100mil, 120 mil, dear, dear, that's his only fault, he will do for me.

Its reported, and I can believe it, that he is in the main happy with our squad and will have around 15 mil to spend in January, lets look at that.

Solid defence, stats prove that and stats also prove that even with a demotivated team and maybe the wrong players in wrong positions in the wrong formation, we still created loads of chances.

Maybe if MON players the right players in the right positions in the right formation, then motivates them, well me may just create even more chances.

Get Bendtner to actually play in the strikers role and spend the 15 mil on a good poacher, add in a returning Campbell and Wickham and we may have a team.

I don't see big changes in January just changes in attitude and play, any major moves will take place in the summer.

So to my mates from the dark side thank you for your concern but we will try and struggle on and to my mates from the light, BiB's and BoB's are no more, lets get our season started.

We don't have a bad squad. Bruce just couldn't put it all together.

The big glaring hole in our team lies in a striker, or lack of one. O Neill can't score but I do expect if will address this glaring error unlike our previous encumbent.

This is a very happy day for me.

I think we should thank Bruce for our good squad, it's just a shame he couldn't achieve with it.

    Really excited about O'Neill! :D

Good appointment for you chaps - good luck with MON.
I'm sure he'll have you rising back up the league fairly quickly.

EDIT: but not too quickly !!

Just had a phonecall from my very reliable ITK.

MON definitely IS the manager and their will be a press conference later.

    Newcastle fan in peace

I thinks the MON appointment is an excellent appointment for you. Even without any new players in I think you'll start to see improved results under MON (although that's not hard).

I'm not quite sure what Bruce was playing at this season. Because I now live in Brighton I was there for the Brighton v Sunderland League Cup match. To start with no strikers was such a bizarre tactical decision by Bruce and we all know what happened in that match.

I think the derby matches are back on for next season.

Lack of strikers, or Bruce's unwillingness to use the ones we have?
