Why can’t we just have a normal, central ground manager. We’ve gone from one that’s ultra defensive who’s teams can’t score to one who’s ultra attacking who’s teams can’t defend.
Just to cap off the day I was met with the usual Saturday night Leeds crowd, in my City regalia, with predictable results. At least we've got a decent keeper
Maybe we should just re hire LR alongside Tim and let them both work with their strong points, surly its that simple haha
Do we score more per game now compared to last season? We’ve not scored in 4 out of 9. We’ve scored in 5 but one was a last ditch pen. EDIT: we’re scoring less per game this season,
If Tim's still here at Xmas, I think we'll definitely see us having a higher goals per game, but unfortunately also a higher goals conceded per game
Not as many as the opposition. We’ve scored 12 in 9. 2 of which pens & one a rebound from a pen. Currently on course for 61 goals. The more attacking is a fallacy.
. It's a bit of a concern if a championship manager has no clue how to deal with different tactical styles. For what it's worth I think you're doing a disservice to Walter, who spoke about adjusting his tactics when we played qpr for instance.
Come on ben you can be as anti Tim as you want, but nobody can deny we are more attacking under him. It's clear to see for absolutely everyone.
I’m not anti-Tim during games. I don’t think he’s up to the job but he’ll get my support at games. I think we’ve signed some decent players who are capable of more if managed competently. Bob’s comparison above describes LR who couldn’t score against TW who’s more attacking. Yet LR’s team scored more goals. We can attack all game but we also need to create chances & score them. Which we’re not. We scored 10 in 3 games &.2 in the other. 6. I’ve been open that I thought TW wasn’t up to it & should have gone before the last break. We’re now at the next. We’ve had results but not the performances. Stoke 1st half was as bad as today. QPR not much better. Still not seen Cardiff. At what point is it too far? The next break is November. Before then we have 5 tricky games & Portsmouth. We could very well come out of that run in the bottom 3. I’ll be surprised if we win more than 1 of them. I hope we do, but I can’t see it. His playing style is like the Emperors new clothes, Non existent with most fawning around pretending it’s great whilst knowing it to be nothing more than headless chicken management.
I'm not sure what success would look like this year. Is entertainment the sole plan? It's all well and good entertaining but Acun has always wanted promotion, you won't get that with this style. It certainly looks a much weaker league than last season and certainly more open. It's more entertaining, we're better going forwards, but defensively we're laughable. I'd make the change but it's only because I don't believe in the style
Firstly, we were outclasses by a good Norwich side. I said in my pre-match post if we can keep Sargent & Borja Sainz quiet, then we might get something from the game, but we didn't. At the stage we are at present, which is not a settle side as yet, then as others have said, we may well struggle against the better teams but likely to do much better against weaker ones. I guess our progress will be judged on how we perform against the better teams going forward, hopefully in time, when all the players are up to speed, then we will see start to see an improvement. To some degree, there is always a trade of being more offensive rather than defensive, and it is finding that balance. For me, there needs to be a better structure defensively. We can play a high line, but there has to be structure of how the back 4 moves up and back as a unit, rather than at present the defenders are all over the place. Whether Tim's style allows this, I guess time will tell. On the game there were a few positives, I thought Alzate looks good, Kamara did well when he came on and Belloumi was certainly our best threat. I would like to see in midfield Alzate, Zambrano & Palmer, and see how that works. On Hughes, apart from a couple of errors I thought he looks a better prospect than McLaughlin, Macca is just too slow in this system, but Hughes looks quicker and better on the ball. Joao Pedro was a bit unlucky to have his goal chalked off, though I can see why it was, it was one of those that could have been given either way. Nice to see a bit of Latin temperament, though. There is certainly enough quality in this squad to compete at the top end, it just remains to be seen if Tim can start to bring performances up to the level of the likes of Norwich, who out of Leeds & Blunts who we have played look a better side. It will be interesting to see the point's accumulation, Liam's games had a lot of 1 point draws, whereas Tim's team may well win more but lose more, and I guess if you win 2 and lose one is better than having 3 draws or one win and 2 losses is 3 points same as 3 draws. Bad day at the office, off to Türkiye to lick our wounds, hopefully will come back refreshed and up for the next 2 tough games.
We started the game so poorly - it is a big concern because we have every game (I think) this season. This incessant need to pass back and invite pressure got shown up again today. It just plays ourselves into trouble nearly every time. I can’t understand why Walter and Rosenior’s teams have done it, especially we are good when we attack. Those early chances gave Norwich confidence and we were punished. This will continue to happen against good teams if we don’t change it. Similar has been said by others but my other point of coming on today was to say: Can we have Walter as the manager against the lower teams and Rosenior as the manager against the better sides? Problem solved. Promotion guaranteed. UTT.
After 9 games we were W4 D4 L1. That's 44% draws (After 9 games this season we're 33% draws). Our tenth game last season was our 3-0 tonking by Ipswich. Hopefully Walter learns the same from yesterday that Rosenior did from that game.
Someone asked about points return earlier. We were averaging 1.8 points a game this time last season. It’s 1.3 this season. So even though City have fewer draws, we have fewer wins. Our return so far is 75% of last season, so if that stays the same all season we’ll finish with 52/53 points.
This fannying about with the ball at the back is not a Tim secret strategy, nor was it Liams unique philosophy. First time for years I saw match of the day and the football league highlights last night, every team does it and it often goes tits up.
Tim's football is a million times more exciting to watch by comparison to Rosie, but clearly we need to score a minimum of 2 goals per game as we are always going to conceded based on what's been served up so far. Also Tim is working with a whole new group of players who are new to his way of playing football, and importantly without a striker proven in The Championship. Some tweaks needed in Jan and I see us finishing in the top half comfortably. We have more younger players signed on a permanent contract so the foundations are there to kick on.
