Did anyone realise Arteta's great grandad also managed Arsenal back in the old days https://x.com/HarryEnfield6/status/1841753870847860803
Can't believe I've read two seperate incidents of it in just a short space of time. I see there is a pump style thing you can buy as well, which is handy if you run a restuarant / nursery as well as for a family home.
The training came in handy when I helped someone who was the victim of a hit and run. The trainer said that you'll always get bystanders so make up jobs for them to do to stop them distracting you. And that if a bystander wants to be a hero tell them it's now on them. The girl was semi conscious and the car went over her so I knew not to move her as she was breathing so it was not worth risking moving her. I was talking to her and realised there were people standing and looking so I told 2 to call ambulance and old bill, 4 of them to stop all the traffic in both directions and the other to watch me check her for injuries so they knew I were being pervy. I took her phone out and got one of them to call her family. I got her as comfy as possible and sat in the road talking and reassuring her...chatted about my daughters etc. Then some one started demanding i put her in recovery position and when I said no she started on about being first aid trained I said so I stood and quietly told her that if she wished to risk paralysing her then I'd tell the family, the old bill and the ambulance service that she ignored me to needlessly put a conscious well breathing person with a back injury into recovery...so she moved back. When the ambulance and old bill arrived I told them what happened and left. By this point there were around 25 around just watching and filming on their phones ffs
Well done mate. Yeah I would find that annoying people on their phones. When I was a kid I got knocked down by a car, my fault I came from between parked cars, it hit me front on, knocked me forward on to the bonnet, then catapulted me back like a sling shot lol, to this day from all those decades ago I still remember one specific thing and that's my head hitting the ground. Thankfully the car emergency stopped well and I didn't end up completely under the car.
Amazing that you can remember something from such an awful event when you were a kid. Kids can be so resilient.
It's weird, it's like a picture of time being frozen that day and remembering every aspect of it, yet anything else the proceeding years I couldn't tell you. My mum had sent me to the supermarket for something (can't remember what), and in them days supermarkets weren't much bigger than a one stop shop. Whatever I went for I couldn't have been able to get, because I can't remember carrying anything back. To get to the supermarket (a chain of stores that no longer exist) I had to cross a main road, which looking back it seems daft that my mum sent me, knowing I would be crossing that road - there was a crossing but it was at the end of the road, so being a kid I ain't going all the way down there to come all the way back and then the same in reverse. None of the shops there exist anymore and haven't for decades, but I remember them all, supermarket, hardware store, bakers with lovely cream cakes in the window lol. I remember going in the ambulance with the old two tones going off. I even remember a copper a day latter asking me a few basic questions, although mainly talking to my parents. I still remember one of the questions, how fast was the car going, like I'm a kid, how the fook do I know. anyhow over 55 years later I woke up starring in 'life on mars.'
I've had to do the full thing at a car crash whilst also telling a hippy to **** off with his funny potions he wanted me to administer whilst his mate seen the light about the carnage of real life around him, that ****er got a job after that for sure.
