Think we need to at least try Hutchinson on the right with szmodics in the 10. Southampton and Leicester both winning
I'm blaming McKenna for this stubborn team selection. Get Phillips off and bring on Taylor Burns and hutch off for ogbene and Szmodics
Where's the fecking changes McKenna, don't turn in to MM and a stubborn fool. Poor management today but we move on!!
And Hutchinson stays on ffs!! I ain't happy with McKenna, this stubbornness with Hutchinson at 10 hasn't worked all bloody season, so why persist with it?? Accept you got it wrong and play people in their natural positions..... Hutchinson wide right, Szmodics number 10
Muric - costs us too much possession and goals from his lazy style of play. 3/10 Ben Johnson - toooo nice, needs nastiness and actually not very good. 4/10 O'Shea - he was ok, has to cover for Johnson and his lazy ways. 6/10 Jacob Greaves - Had a few dodgy spells where he slipped etc but other than that, solid and committed. 6/10 Leif - struggles against Prem wingers and not much going forward 5/10 Phillips - at fault for first goal, didn't do much else tbh, prefer Taylor or even Luongo 4/10 Morsy - done ok, missing second half 5/10 Wes - out of his depth 2/10 Hutchinson - not his position, looked lost 2/10 Clarke - not involved enough 4/10 Delap - our only bit of quality on the pitch today, pity we will only see him for 1 season at this rate. 7/10 McKenna - poor tactically, bad team selection 2/10
Thanks for popping over with your concerns last night. Thought you might need some well wishes this afternoon. At least he won’t be poached this season
Poor performance all around. After some credible recent draws, this game will hopefully bring the club back down to earth and make us aware of how tough this competition will be. West Ham played well, exploited space, and had some fast attacking combinations. And we had no answer. Really missed Tuanzebe at the back. No spark from the attacking midfielders. Central midfielders were overwhelmed. With hindsight, probably needed a back three with Burns as attacking right wing back. Cut open far too frequently. Dust ourselves down, learn from it, and get a win against Everton. We need it.
Reminder of the huge step up this league is, we don't have the luxury to keep chopping and changing and not expecting gaps to be exploited. I can't comment on individual performances but it doesn't sound like there's many to be proud of not many silver linings to hold onto. The proverbial 2 steps backward. Trust we'll take our medicine, learn from it and move on. But we've got to start applying the lessons soon. The lack of wins will soon start to be a weight around our necks.
Poor performance. Patterns of play really aren't there with all the new players, clearly individual qualities of new players but passing moves just aren't coming off. Hutchinson not the same player as last season, appreciate there's a step up but his decision making has been very poor, gives the ball away more times than not in good positions. To be honest the players who have got us here haven't let us down as think we might need to get back to basics with some of them coming back in, problem is they now won't be match fit. But I think our best passages of play this season have generally been when more players from last season played. Delap looks brilliant but it's all about his individual brilliance. Even in the few minutes Chaplin and Hirst were on when they barely touched the ball you could just see there were more openings. Hopefully this level of understanding will come from the new players but as I've said at the moment they look physically better than weve had in the past but their positional understanding and fluency just isn't there.
Thought it might take a bit longer for you to see this but your comments and ratings you’re seeing it now
Abysmal. The most frustrating thing about today was the late subs when the game was getting away from us at 3-1. The attack is looking a threat but the defence is a shambles. Woolfy needs to come back in. And perhaps even Walton.
