If we've learnt from this game that Paul is a worthwhile option for us this season, then I take that as a useful afternoon. We were always going to lose this, but finding out something positive from a squad option could be very important for the weeks and months ahead.
I said at the start of the season I wasn't convinced his system would work in the PL and I'm yet to be proven wrong. He has a system and he sticks with it thick and thin. However this makes us so easy to predict by other teams, our backline is by far the worst in the PL and teams seem to have us pegged every week. Martin isn't cut out for the PL level and his approach is seeing us get dismantled every-week. However, chopping and changing managers will just see us get similar results and it's a far more depressing way to get relegated. Do we just stick with him and see if things start to 'click' like last season?
This is the thing about the whole “risk is counterbalanced by reward” - we’ve conceded half a million goals through risk, and scored three. So that doesn’t tally.
What i have been saying all season. Tall Paul gives us a decent holiday up play his control is not great but it gives us a plan b
I think we need to now stick with a team and get some consistency: Ramsdale, KWP, Taylor, Harwood-Bellis, Bednarek, Downes, Aribo, Fernandes, Archer, Onachu, Dibbling.
I'd say this does nothing for him, but doesnt add to the pressure against him either as we would have expected nothing from this anyway.
I agree with the comments about Tall Paul, a little ungainly and not the quickest but he certainly gives us an option up front. Better than Sicknote, who has the first touch of a rapist!
Just need to follow this up with a good performance against Leicester 20 games in the PL without a win now
**** me. Do you guys now understand why I was so cautious and apprehensive ahead of this game? No matter how poorly or well you're playing, you lot are always such a pain in our backsides ffs That was NOT fun at all lol
