Swansea v Stoke Competition- Sky Bet Championship Venue - Swansea.com Stadium Date - 5 October 2024 Kick off - 3pm Following their battling 0-1 away defeat at high flying Sheffield United, next up for Luke Williams’ Swansea Squad is a home fixture against a Stoke City outfit buoyed by their 6-1 thrashing of Portsmouth in midweek. On Wednesday, Sheffield United extended their unbeaten Sky Bet Championship start and climbed up to third place after beating the Swans 1-0 at Bramall Lane. Swans’ defender Josh Tymon's first-half own goal proved decisive, while the Blades also hit the woodwork twice in the second period as they secured their fifth league win of the season. The Swans were left to rue a glaring miss by on-loan Brentford midfielder Myles Peart-Harris just before falling behind and they dropped one place to 12th after going down to their third league defeat. The same evening, Tom Cannon scored four goals as Stoke thrashed Portsmouth to claim their first Championship win under new head coach Narcis Pelach. Cannon gave the hosts a deserved lead after 13 minutes with his first goal for the club when he curled in a free-kick from 25 yards. Portsmouth drew level after 29 minutes when Mark O'Mahony finished off a swift counter-attack, but Stoke scored twice in three minutes through Cannon and Sam Gallagher before half-time. Cannon netted twice in quick succession after the break, before Andrew Moran completed the rout over the visitors, who still remain winless after eight league games. The Swans have played the Potters on 82 previous occasions, winning 26, losing 33 and drawing 23. In the corresponding fixture last season the Swans ran out comfortable 3-0 winners: Turning to tomorrow, I think that whilst Stoke will be on a high after thrashing Portsmouth, the Swans are more than capable of taking all 3 points at home. However, I’m going for a 1-1 home draw, which would be the third 1–1 draw at home this season

Andy Davies will be the referee tomorrow. Hampshire-based Davies has taken charge of 12 Swansea matches since 2017. The first of these was a Carabao Cup third round match between Reading and the Swans in west Berkshire. That match ended with a 2-0 win for the visiting Swans. Davies most recently took charge of the Swans in January 2024, overseeing a 1-0 victory over West Bromwich Albion on New Year's Day. So far this season, Davies has taken charge of six matches. He has handed out 28 yellow cards. Davies will be assisted by Graham Kane and Hristo Karaivanov, while Stephen Parkinson will be the fourth official.
Thanks Taff. Assuming no mistakes at the back I can see us getting 3 points. So it will probably end 2-1.
If the managers any good and drilled into them how bad own goals and not working hard for the full 90+ mins are then...... 3-1 us
A lot of optimism here... I've no idea personally, jury's still out. From what I've seen so far we're looking like a mid table finish but still hopeful we're improving (slowly). Stoke are on a high with the new manager buzz, so this is going to be a difficult game. I think we're going to have to score first as we're still not creating much.
I swear I don’t think I’ve ever heard a worse commentator than the Swans one. Only Danny Gabbidon comes close. Just sucks the life out of every game.
Only saw the last 20... Eom looks like the only chink of light. Ron should have hit the target though.
Looking like a draw game here lads, we are desperate for a decent striker, what we have is crap......
My god we have been shocking in front of goal today, it's been all Stoke in the dying minutes too.....
