Leeds fans on YouTube saying the perfect performance? for me, they looked decent, but without the 3 minute keeper injury I do think we’d have got a goal the “orthodox“ way. When the keeper went down with a headache/brain injury, it stopped our momentum. It was a tactic he used. And they used. Like they just wanted to see it out rather than anything else. Should’ve tried to get a third, or not wasted as much time.
I am a firm believer of the phrase variously attributed wrongly to the likes of Arnold Palmer, Gary Player and Lee Trevino amongst others. The harder I practice the luckier I get The equaliser last night was fortunate, no doubt about it. We had resigned ourselves to a loss. That it didn’t come was a bonus. The manner in which we got it is laughable. But I reckon this team of ours trains its socks off and every one of them are desperate to get to the EPL playing for Sunderland.
, he is very reluctant to change, but he likes control so makes sense. We are top so he is the man but if I am taking my Sunderland specs off, Leeds deserved the win yday.[/QUOTE] I really think we were worth the draw. Leeds were very good in parts but didn’t have it all their own way. RLB changed it from the mistake of the back 5, we were on top for a lot of the 2nd half and even in the first Jobe could have had a couple. Well done to both teams and the fair result.
Reflecting back I am proud of these lads. The joy at the end shows how much the club and the fans means to them. I didnt think there was much between the two sides. We started fast and dominated. Then they came back at us hard. I thought we controlled much of the second half without having a major threat in front of goal. However ridiculous the goal was I do think we deserved the point. I thought Cirkin was unreal last night. He would be my MOTM. The lad has everything. Him and Mundle developing that partnership now as well. Jobe has matured so much in 12 months. He looks every bit ready for the next step up for me. If we do the business this season players like him will make us competitive. Rigg a bit quiet, but still sniffed his goal. Twice now he is following in and it gets rewards. He may well develop into the perfect 10. Some on Mundles decision making needs work, but it will come. The ref must have a personal grudge against Roberts. Thought they just kept kicking him. First time I have seen Mepham make a mistake, but still a rolls royce. I wonder if the dropping Neil into a back 5 our of possession will be an experiment to drop. 3 times this season I have seen us do this now. It is a way to negate the width of teams who dominate the flanks. It can invite pressure as you sacrifice a man in the middle. That is what happened last night for a period. Once we pushed Neil back into the middle we got control back again. I personally dont mind the tactic, for phases in a game, but last night we started with it and it opened the door for Leeds a bit. Anyway, a great team effort last night. Great to see Regis animated at the equaliser. We should fear nobody with these lads we have. A couple more ready after international break. Looking forward to seeing Connelly in particular, and Samed if he is ready by then. Going to have to earn their place, but be great to have competition.
I’m not sure we’ll see Samed up to speed until around Christmas at best. I think the only difference post international break will be Connolly being ready to contribute and Ballard back on the bench.
Same for both keepers really. Kind of! Jobe should’ve had a hat trick first half but just couldn’t hit the target!
Just watched the game again (sad i know ) they had a 15min patch helped by us going into a back 5 .. after that we had control .. cant see how we didnt deserve a point .
I agree. In poor form. He’s still a very good championship right back but no more. Still young though
Yeah a few of us commented saying he was poor again last night Feel we need to sign a RB in January, someone who can push him - obviously depending on Huggins injury but we know how injury prone he's been for us
