League form: WWDDDL. Ref: David Coote. VAR: Paul ****ing Tierney. TV: Sky Sports. How would you like to line up for this one and how do you think we actually will line up?
I do know where you're coming from, I think he needs taking out for his own sanity, and some on here as well...
I’d start Moore personally but I think Werner will start again. Then Moore off the bench after the hour mark. Just hope Werner can have some sort of positive impact on the game this time, he’s overdue a goal or even an assist.
Get the squad rotation going, so Dragusin/VDV as the starting CBs. LB/RB rotation is a serious problem even this early in the season (need to take care with Udogie) . Trust the attack enough to not start Son even if match-fit ??
Maybe VDV as a left back, like at the end of last season when Dragusin played a few games? Thinking not just of resting Udogie, but getting the most out of his pace against the ridiculously high Brighton high line.
A VDV/Davis/Draguisin combo would be a variation on that (with attacking intent via VDV) . My concern on too much VDV running is his hamstrings going ping.
Ironically what caused his hamstrings to go ping against Chelsea was him not running, thanks to that dumbfuck ref who had the game constantly stop-starting
Saw this on social media and probably will be what Ange goes for. I can’t see him dropping Romero or Micky unless they’re injured
It's a very attacking team but it seems to work. A Kulu, Bentancur and Maddison midfield has on paper very little defensively, but they are all such good footballers it works.
Total football with those three. Though Bentancur now back seemingly fully fit is decent at sweeping things up, never gonna be a destroyer like Wanyama/ Sandro but his reading of the game is top tier. Very happy to see him back to his best of late, quality footballer. Big test for them all tomorrow though.
I think that is quite an old-fashioned way of looking at the team. In Ange's team, everyone attacks and everyone defends. Their starting positions are just that, starting positions.
If you're thinking of employing such a system, you HAVE to have forwards who are going to convert opportunities into goals more regularly than ours currently do. Consistently playing someone like Werner, who struggles to convert tap-ins, means that we will get found out too often. If he can't contribute, he has to be dropped. Moore deserves to keep the shirt after Thursday's performance.
From what we’ve seen of Moore’s style, I’d like to see him start tomorrow, as Brighton are a decent footballing side, and IMO, it’ll suit him. But I can’t see it happening tbh. - let’s hope if he comes on as a sub, he gets more than 10-15mins, as he deserves the opportunity to make an impact on the game, especially with Werner squandering chances galore. If Werner’s current form continues, and Ange continues to start him, we have to be looking at other options earlier in the game. He’s had lots of opportunity, and it’ll get to the point soon (if it hasn’t already), where is sends a bad message to the squad.
