Even our fishy chums getting humped 6-1 last night hasn`t cheered me up, that`s how demoralised I feel. My daughter gets married on Saturday, and I`m dreading turning my phone on after the do!
Just seen 'On This Day' on the website This is the team that beat Chelsea 3-1 away in 2015 What a great day out that was! Maybe this is why we're struggling a bit now? M Stekelenburg C Soares J Fonte(c) V van Dijk R Bertrand O Romeu V Wanyama S Mané S Davis D Tadic G Pellè
I get why most of you are dreading this, but our record against you is very patchy. Even when you got relegated, we still didn't beat you that season. I still have nightmares about that 3-3 draw (which, ironically, your current goalkeeper was largely responsible for ). Obviously I hope and expect to get a victory against you, but the PTSD still remains. Not going to write this off as a guaranteed win before a ball has been kicked. I know better than that lol.
Mate, you literally have nothing to worry about. Even if Ramsdale has an absolute blinder on his return to the Emirates you'll still win by 2 or 3 goals. If we had a competent manager then maybe we could make life tough for you. Sadly we don't. He is fixated on his desire to be the next Pep and won't budge on his philosophy.
I understand your reticence to assume a victory before a ball is kicked but have you actually watched us this season lol? A very different team to the 3-3 draw you mention during your bottling of the title. You're arguably the best pressing team in the league and therefore with our pissing about the back constantly we are tailor made for you. I'm kinda thinking (hoping) it won't be too bad scorewise simply because you won't need to work hard for it, and with lots of games will take the opportunity to not expand too much energy. But make no mistake there's almost 0 chance of us getting anything here. I'd even go as far as saying that if we did it would be our biggest PL shock result this century.
I understand all of this and you're both correct in your assessments of why we should win. As I said, I do expect us to win. However, football is a funny game and there's been plenty of games in the past where I thought we'd stroll through yet we made a meal of it. You guys also saw against Leicester that we have a tendency to switch off at times if we feel the game is feeling a bit too easy. I'm hoping we've learned from that to not be complacent. But as I say, you just never, ever know, no matter how unlikely or illogical it seems.
I (like every football fan) agree about never counting chickens before they're hatched and that every game is a potential banana skin but mate, you've clearly not watched us this season! It's not just that we're poor, like Sheffield United or Burnley last season, but we're poor and we have a manager who refuses to see it and genuinely believes that he's some sort of football God. He believes he can reinvent the game playing his tactics come hell or high water. He's setup mediocre championship players as if theyre champions league standard, It's a recipe which will get us utterly pumped each and every game. Against you guys where your strengths are our weakness, it's going to get embarrassing. I'm hoping you keep it in the single figures. You winning anything less than 5-0 will be a miracle
Gabriel is 50/1 to score 2 or more. Tenner on that thank you very much. Plus a fiver on a hat-trick at 200/1.
