Read the exchange between Willhoops and myself earlier. I mean Bammy Lammy is just yet another example of the stupidity of our politicians. This guy is an utter embarrassment to the whole country and especially himself Jesus ****ing wept!!
It isn't just the politicians. I doubt anyone will actually click the link to read the article, but it shows some of the issues that are ****ing the rest of us over. This is the dip **** that has no figures for migration, despite being in charge of it, and has us paying for thousands of hotel beds to be empty 'just in case'. He was asked how civil servants can stand up to ministers who are critical of diversity (i.e. DEI ideology), and he replied: "On some issues we should accept that direction – they are our democratically-elected leaders after all – but on others I think it's for us actually within the civil service to be stewards and to think about our own role in terms of the leadership of the organisation of the civil service which obviously takes account of ministerial views but doesn’t have to follow them slavishly on every particular issue.” “Stewards”, “doesn’t have to follow them slavishly on every issue” - these statements alone should have been enough for Sir Matthew to have been fired on the spot.
The Lords Commissioner says Alli is under investigation for the “alleged non-registration of interests leading to potential breaches of paragraphs 14(a) and 17 of the thirteenth edition of the Code of Conduct for Members of the House of Lords.” Here’s the code: “14. In order to assist in openness and accountability members shall: (a) register in the Register of Lords’ Interests all relevant interests, in order to make clear what are the interests that might reasonably be thought to influence their parliamentary actions.” “17. Members are responsible for ensuring that their registered interests are accurate and up-to-date. They should register any change in their relevant interests within one month of the change.” Not going away… https://order-order.com/2024/10/02/lord-alli-under-investigation-for-non-registration-of-interests/
The Inheritance Tax threshold can be up to £500k provided your 'total estate' at the time of death is less than £2 million .... so most people in the UK can still leave their home to their kids without paying any IHT ... ... here's the thing though - if you have to go into care and haven't got the readies to pay for it weekly / monthly - the cost is collated and set against the value of your house to be collected once you snuff it and the house is sold / passed on ...
Oh Susanna, before you get all high and mighty, you first need to be right. The legal bods say she wasn't and she's rightly getting ragged for it. I reckon someone was yelling in her ear to keep talking over him before he spurts out facts that highlight her ignorance.
