To be fair to Walter, his midfield substitutions have made a difference more than once. Slater and Millar changed the game at Stoke and then Zambrano and Mehlem improved things 2nd half last night. Wouldn't be surprised to see Walter shuffle the midfield pack again on Saturday.
Last night he was excellent at playing the ball forward to Belloumi. I think it's clicked for Lewie now based on last night.
Recently read that for the last couple of years Bloom has been renting out his analytics technology to Ipswich, which has obviously worked out bloody well for them. Not sure if that relationship will survive now they're in the same division.
There's talk of him becoming a minority shareholder in Hearts up here, could be a huge game changer for them if it goes ahead.
Think the Shota comparison is harsh. Some of his wins really were purely down to luck. Last gasp deflected winners, questionable penalties, red cards, Oscar somehow bundling in goals from 2 yards etc
He’s got to be one of the best full backs in the division. Not just on the pitch, off it as well. All the new players speak very highly highly of him, in terms of Coyle helping them settle into the area. The most important player in that squad and a great leader.
Just a little one for those that love to bash Macca. Opta have him as the 7th best player on the pitch last night, behind only Drameh, Madsen, Pander, Coyle, Millar and Belloumi.
Agreed. Walter might have won three in a row, but let’s not overlook all the friendlies we didn’t win, and the behind-closed-doors games (which we know nothing about) that we probably didn’t win either.
If my adding up is correct(I know, sad bastard as I've just had a look)...We've been promoted 10 times and relegated 8 times since 63?
Given that Celtic appear to be far better than Rangers this season,I'm relieved it wasn't Rangers playing last-night...
Seem to recall Hateley winning a load of pre season friendlies. Rather lose friendlies then have a season where things improve rather than win them and play badly all season in games that matter like under Hateley.
That would necessitate us having being 2 divisions lower than we are now in 1963. We’d have had to have been in old Division 4 and we weren’t.
