Neil had a good game against boro imo. Needs a responsive performance from him tomorrow. If not then he needs to have a spell out of the team. You play players in form for me as much as I love the lad

We should be winning games like this if we are aiming to be challenging for the playoff positions.

Same team for me, give them a chance to improve and get the job done. My worry is our left side, we seem to leave absolutely acres of space over there and Mundle just isn't providing any cover when opposition attack.

If we play to our strengths, high press, quick counter etc we should comfortably beat them.

I see Derby as another Sheff Wed who have plenty of endeavour but not as much skill as Sunderland.

If we play as a team we should beat Derby ...

... only a daft penalty can stop us <doh>

I can see a memorable night under the lights, RLB's first.

Still on course for automatic promotion.

Great coach. Great squad. Time to believe.

I want to see Luke O'Niens reaction when we get promoted.

Football and predictions always come back to bite you up the ass. My thought in saying that Neil should be rested for a while but going for a 2 - 0 win to the lads. Neil to score both…lol…and show what the f*ck do I know :)

Is the arm band weighing Dan Neil down? Seem to remember we gave the captains arm band to Cattermole very early on (at a similar age) and it affected his performances too. It's like he's trying to be more or do more and it's not coming off for him. He just needs to be himself or 09 takes the captaincy.

Regis Le Bris on 'difficult' Milan Aleksic Sunderland call

    https://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/s...bris-difficult-milan-aleksic-sunderland-call/

    upload_2024-10-1_8-22-29.jpeg

REGIS Le Bris has stressed the importance of finding the "right moment" to hand Milan Aleksic his first taste of Sunderland action.…

"The new players for example, Ian Poveda, Tommy Watson, Naz (Rusyn)...they are now ready to play but they were either not fit before or did not have a lot of experience at the level," said Sunderland's boss.

"So the efficiency of the core [of the team] will be important, how we can play with efficiency and less energy [in busy weeks].

"For the other players, it is picking the right moment to play them in the team - for the level of the team and for their confidence.

"For example with a young player if it is too early, they could fail and this picture, this image can stay with them for three, four, five months. It is important to pick the right moment."

Le Bris continued: "For Tommy [Watson] and Milan, it is exactly the same question. We trust them because we think they have many qualities and the potential to perform well, to play for Sunderland and give a new profile in our squad.

"It is still difficult to find the right moment to play. Sometimes you do not have the choice and sometimes we can choose, so for Tommy he had I think 12 minutes on Saturday and this was perfect for him.

"For Milan, I don't know exactly at the minute. He's good in the training sessions but we still have to make sure it is the right moment and we have Alan Browne now available."

As well as Watson, Harrison Jones was on Sunderland's bench at Watford, while Trey Ogunsuyi has also had his first taste of senior involvement in the early stages of the season.

"During this Championship, these players will have opportunities to play," said Le Bris of Sunderland's academy youngsters.

"For me, it's the identity of the club. When we have the opportunity to give them new experiences and minutes to understand the rhythm and show their qualities as well, we will do this with huge confidence. We trust these players and the identity of the club."

Cracking thread as always RTB. Thanks. A game we should win if we want to maintain our league position. It will still be difficult as most games are but I do think we have enough to take the 3 points tonight. I think 4 points out of derby and Leeds would be decent so a win tonight lifts the pressure a little from Friday. Keep the faith lads and lasses.

I’d be picking the same team for tonight. Give Neil a chance to redeem himself and save Browne for Friday.

    this.
3 points against this lot at home should be a given if we have any serious goals this season.

Leeds on Friday is a real test of our credentials for this season

I wouldn't mind seeing a few changes for this one, the likes of Browne and Aleksic seem primed and I wouldn't be against seeing Poveda, Hjelde, Aouchiche and Ba either.
