I can't see our manager staying if he loses later today. We would be daft to keep him in my opinion. A fluky result might save him but nothing else. Im sure he knows this too!
I just don't get this "sack him if we don't win". For who? We know that SR will try to be clever and we won't get a name. We have invested in a playing squad for Martin's style, so we will stick with him. Even if we are bottom in late November I honestly cannot see a change being made, unless we are seriously (8 points or more) adrift. I am also against the sack the manger idea at the first time of trouble. Let's stick with him, get behind him and the team and overcome the adversity. In life **** gets turned around given the chance normally.
If SR sack him I would rather it was a planned thing, rather than ‘let’s see how he gets on and if we’re x points adrift by x date, then we will replace him’. I think most people agree his playing style with our squad will get us relegated, it’s worrying SR don’t seem to see this.
I think that you thinking what I think most people think is wrong, is wrong. In all seriousness though, most people seem to think we’re going down.
I do get your logic, but my concern is this style is very likely to end in disaster. I dont understand why we would wait until an 8 or 10 point gap appear before sudenly going, oh **** let's get a replacement. That said, I also understand we could suddenly click, and is all roses. Hard decision for sure, but given the next few games after this, if we lose tonight, personally i'd have him gone. Draw, I'd ponder and sleep on it for a few days.
There is a part of me that thinks it will click, but not suddenly. Personally I hate the premier league (for a number of reasons) and I am one of those that believes we will be relegated this season but… in the long term if persisting with a style of play that eventually clicks (hopefully a flexible version that sees us playing with a bit more urgency) means that we become an established top flight side in the next 5 years (like say, Brighton) then I’d be happy to stick with Martin (my view might change again after tonight ). But please can we get better at managing the game when we’re winning!
While I agree with this in principle, the problem with waiting til being that far adrift is that it will considerably reduce the pool of managers who will be interested as we'll basically be relegated already. Whereas if he was sacked while still in touching distance then there'll be managers out there who fancy their chances of coming in and making a big enough difference to maybe keep us up. To be clear I'm not arguing for him to be sacked if we lose tonight, but if we're still winless in 4/5 games time I don't think we should be using other teams poor performance as a justification for ours.
I really don’t see it, the club has heavily invested in Martin’s style of play, I can’t see them binning him off after only 6 PL games, unless they have someone like Potter signed up and ready to go I.e someone with a similar philosophy but higher level experience. I also can’t really see what RM could have done differently in the last two games at least, he’s largely made the changes most of us were asking for and dropped possession for possessions sake over the last few weeks. IMO there have been signs of improvement as well, but we haven’t quite got a PL game over the line, yet.
This is just my opinion (and therefore it is very important), but unless and until we have a more 'appropriate' manager lined up, then sacking RM will not serve any helpful purpose. It is entirely possible that our owners have an 'oven ready' solution as a replacement manager, but they are either keeping things very quiet and secretive, or there is no-one else ready to step in. Maybe 'arry Redknapp wants another go....
Said for a couple of weeks I'm fearing the worst for this one. They're a very good pressing side which is the best way to play against us.
Is this the answer? Get Tom to predict a loss (4-0 is possible, other results are available), and our good season is assured
It would take a Harry Potter not a Graham Potter to get us out of this mess. We need to stick with RM just to keep things stable, only time will solve the problems, rocking the boat will only make things worse imo.
Yep - people are far too impatient now and want instant success. Remember the time a lot of folks wanted Koeman sacked at Xmas, he then lost only 3 of his last 19 league games and we finished 6th. What happened when we were quick to pull the trigger last time, it got worse and then got worse again.
