The thing that bothered me most about today is, the FA Cup final ten Hag came up with an actual plan and formation to counter and beat City comfortably.

Today, up against Spurs who we all know will play a certain way and not change because, you know, Ange invented attacking football and that, so sticks to this 'philosophy', Ten Hag just sent out the same old team in the same old tired formation and did absolutely **** all to counter the way Spurs play.

He just stuck to the same awful 4 2 3 1 handed down to him by every other previous manager post Fergie (bar Jose and Rangnick), and he crossed his fingers and hoped.

And it ****ing failed, dismally. Again.

 

Southgate is a ****ing nobody, a M&S waistcoat who was gifted the cream of English football, to work with a few times each couple of months, the rest of the time he floated around various director's boxes, a world apart from having to manage a PL team. He doesn't have the tactical nous, he wouldn't have the resources of the FA to toy with and he certainly hasn't the PL experience to bolster his CV. He is a busted flush and we'd be better off looking abroad.

What astounds me is the fact that the club will splash out £85m on the likes of Antony, yet they baulk at the prospect of paying a fraction of that for the best managerial talent available. If we want someone, let's go get them, Ancelotti is still my man for the job.

 

Unfortunately, Ancelotti remains in control of the best team in Europe who have just topped up their talent with Mbappe.

He won't come to us, regardless of what is put in front of his nose.

 

Well then, serious answers on a postcard please because Potter et al are a waste of space, one step forward and two steps back. Out there somewhere is a manager with experience, authority, tactical invention and can turn us around - again, but who? This would be our 100th change of manager since SAF - who is actually available..........

 

And I hope Rashford doesn't think he can walk away from this episode blameless because Bruno's sending off will grab all the headlines. He was MIA throughout the game, another ambling jog while the other on-field players were running around like maniacs, he has to go, he's had too many chances to redeem himself so he can **** off and feed the poor in his own time, as a footballer he is finished, Burnley wouldn't give him game time.

Has to be Ruud till season end while they try to recruit, surely.

Maybe Ancelotti would give it a go after this season, I suppose madder things have happened.

I guess INEOS is trying to tank the season to get first pick of the drafts.

 

Another weekend, another record of worst start. We tend to break this record every year, it seems!

 

A decent away result against a Villa team who played well against Bayern Munich last week. I think ETH still has the dressing room and the support of the INEOS mob who plainly see it as a long term project, I doubt very much there will be any knee-jerking from them, but the conundrum remains as to how ETH gets a tune out of this obviously talented side. He seems to think that Shaw's return will see an upturn in performance, I can see how that might be but its npt the critical piece in the jigsaw that we've all been waiting for. We will likely see an upturn in Rashford's performances as Shaw will relieve him of any defensive duties, but Shaw will likely break again in the coming months and we'll be back to square one again. If ETH sees Shaw's role as critical to improved form overall, he should be looking for a more robust and reliable world-class replacement asap.

 

Didn't watch it, but didn't Villa win a cup this week for the best ever one nil win at home in a European competition or something, and have one of, if not the, best managers out there at the moment?

A nil nil feels epic all things considered.

 

Why does the tone change with every average performance?

In what world is letting ETH go a knee-jerk reaction? I guess we should wait until the season is completely destroyed. Give the man him five more years!

 

All depends on if you want to start all over again (again).
We have a manager who has won a trophy in each of his two seasons with us (not many can say that except City). Most teams have won **** all during those two seasons which in my book say's he is worth another full season at least. We are no longer in a position to feel entitled and as such should at least appreciate the things we do win and hope to see continuing improvement on our quest for top table.

 

Entitled?! We have become a farce, Diego! It has nothing to do with entitlement mentality.

Show me another club in the world that pours in as much resources into a team that underperforms at such scale. There’s none!

Let’s not carry ETH’s message for him about the wonderful cups he’s won.

 

I don't have to go around the world, i will start with Chelsea.
Again i will mention two trophy's in two seasons, show me another English club that has done that in the last two years.

We all want to be back at the top of the table and in my opinion we now have a squad that can get up there. Do i think changing the manager will help that? well changing him the last six times hasn't and a seventh go will probably mean another change of squad with no idea if things will get better or not.
Some of those managers have had great reputations and been highly thought of yet still failed. This is probably because of the people we had at the top such as Woodward coupled with a quick desire to press the trigger.
I will call for Ten Hags head at the end of this season if i see no improvement .

 

I guess the end of season will discount losing points every week. This nonsense about ‘end of season’ is bewildering. It’s actually idiotic hearing ETH say that.

Also, the idea of keeping ETH in place simply because many before him didn’t work out when we had Woodward is a poor argument. There’s been zero signs that he’s capable of turning this ship around. He’s running it to the ditch.

This is what, his third season?
I think giving him this season is fair, Arteta lead Arsenal to back to back 8th place finishes in his first two seasons didnt he? and look at them now!
But this is really the season he needs to start showing something to United fans, he won a couple of pieces of silverware and lead the team to mediocre league finishes, but now in his third season, with the money he has spent, if he is the right man for the job, this really is the season you should start seeing some dividends, league-wise. I am not convinced he is the right man and I think he will be gone by Christmas is my opinion, if anyone is interested, but its not wholly unreasonable to give him at least till Christmas now.

Our problem at Chelsea was not keeping managers long enough to have any effect. Pochettino started having positive effects for us toward the back end of last season and we finished strongly after a very mixed start. Luckily for us, Maresca has pretty much picked up where Poch left off and we still look decent, though we are still a mile away from challenging at the top end of the league, I have no illusions of that.

 

I think ETH's problem is that there is a complete absence of consistency, there is no sign of a discernible style of play developing and no 'identity' - each week is a completely new adventure with nobody sure which Man United is going to turn up. he seems in a perpetual state of flux, either having to integrate new players, and those that are there and had settled themselves now have to get used to RVN and the other fresh faces on the coaching staff - there is no continuity anywhere at the club.

Having said that, I think INEOS have said that because of all the upheaval they want to assess him at the end of one complete season under their watch, which seems reasonable. If they stick to their guns we would hope that they have until May to complete due diligence on his replacement to prevent it becoming another long, drawn out circus so the team can crack on with recruitment, planning and pre-season together.

Just watch, those ****ers will sack him tomorrow.

 

Lets be real, if it gets to December/Jan and you guys are still in the bottom half, he has to go, you cant keep him on if that is the case. Man United cannot be sitting in 14th place in the PL, for appearances sake alone that cannot be allowed without some sort of action by the board.
They will likely boot him and let Ruud take over for the remainder of the season as interim. Thats how I see it going down.
