Doesn’t help when Blackburn are playing the ref, getting every thing going our own fault but still bloody annoying
The frustrating thing is, we could have gone in at HT 0-0 feeling comfortable. A rash, and unnecessary, challenge by Varane but guaranteed if it wasn't for the Blackburn players' reactions the ref would have given a yellow.
Out-fought again as with last week. Need some grit with ten men and we’ve really had none. Harder to play against ten men they say.
If we could’ve kept 11 on the pitch maybe we could’ve got something as felt we was comfortable in first half until red
Every time I predict us to get a positive result, one of our thick twats gets sent off. Absolute ****ing joke. Even with 11 men we look so ****ing slow and clueless. We've got so many mediocre players it's unreal, really bored of watching the sane **** over and over again now. Depressing
To my well biased eyes the tackle that got Dolan a yellow near the end was worse than Varane's for which he got red.
Can't believe we've already reverted to our default setting of being bloody useless without Chair. In slight defence the aforementioned Chair, JCS and Colback proving to be big misses at the moment.
That was a joke right in front of me, a 5ft against 6ft 5 and given against us. Would of made it interesting but wouldn't have deserved anything on 2nd half showibg
Yet another bore fest. The first 45 was ok at best. Started well but our passing is so slow and always to a player with their back to goal, very rarely is it played in front of someone to move on to. It's been like this for most of the season. We, along with many left with about 10 minutes to go. Nothing was going to happen, it was pointless to stay and watch absolutely nothing. We need to start playing progressively rather than just for the sake of moving the ball. If we hadn't gone down to ten men then a 0-0 was on the cards.
Just seen the 5 minutes of highlights that sky put out for general consumption...... 1st half chances looked even, Smyth with the biggest chance, should have scored..... the reaction of the Blackburn players to Varane's tackle was so OTT..... yellow at worse.. Obviously they had the more chances 2nd half, flukey deflection for 1st goal when Nardi had it covered, from the player who was mortally injured by Varane's tackle, it's a miracle.... 2nd goal, not the greatest defending at the back post.... What the hell was that decision against Smyth when he disposessed their huge centre half? Didn't they get a similar decision last year..... Tuesday need a big performance....
More positives…… We are also above fcuking Stoke! No really expected us to beat KFC. Next game we can hopefully snag a win.
I didn't watch the game and have only seen Sky Sports' 5 mins highlights. A few thoughts... The first half Smyth miss that everyone seems to be talking about: I actually think it was a very hard ask to finish it. If you watch the replay carefully, he has to get around the defender to try and get a foot to it. The defender is close to the ball and doesn't allow Smyth to get much contact on it. The Verane red card: I think it's easy for us to criticise the ref here but he's close to the incident and had a good look. From the replay, it perhaps doesn't look so bad but I don't think the replay really shows us exactly what part of his foot made contact with what part of the Blackburn player's foot/ankle. However, Verane was clearly just stretching for the ball as he'd just shrugged off one challenge before. It was a bit reckless, though. So Verane should take some of the blame. Whether it should have been a yellow? Kinda hard to tell from the replay. The ref has a better view than us. The Smyth chance in the second half where he robbed the player and ref calls it back for a foul: this is a poor decision imo. He's basically protected a defender who's been caught out and has done him a favour in calling a foul. Smyth has robbed him and his only way to get through is to push through. If he hadn't pushed through, the defender would just be committing obstruction (which doesn't seem to be given by any ref these days). I'm not sure what the ref expected of Smyth at that moment.
