Newmarket 15,40 Paddy The Squire 33/1 e/w Lads five places, 28/1 WH, bet365 and Coral six places, 22/1 sky eight places
Newmarket 15:40: The Cambridgeshire has 37-runners currently going to post, so just a few shekels on Bopedro, who was third in this race a year ago on a 9lb higher mark..Trainer has other entries too, but I just prefer this one. A while since the gelding won, but he has performed with credit this season. Danny Tudhope rides for the David O'Meara yard 14/1 top price in most places on the ATR site, at time of writing. E/W best option.
Well if the ground had been decent I wouldn't even bother to look beyond Roi de France at 8/1. Stepped up to 9f for the first time last time out and btn ¾L in a time (fast by 2.43s) carrying 9.11. Carries a stone less in this. So they would have to go some to get home in front of him. By Sea The Stars out of a Dansili mare looks a bit classy for a handicap But it's heavy so will have to look again
O'Meara stable in fine form... Aberama Gold 3.15 Haydock has dropped to a really attractive mark. Rated 15lbs lower than at this time last year... Hasn't really had his ground all season and his record on Heavy is (won last 3) 3 from 5 with 1 place. Tried to give Alfa Hellenic (Ayr Silver Cup last week ) 11lbs a couple of races ago and was beaten 3/4 length. What effect the draw is questionable... hard to gauge from today as the sprints had 4 and 5 runners.
Morning all. I see Allmankind makes his seasonal debut in a 2 mile handicap hurdle up at Market Rasen. I didnt know he’d left the Skelton barn but he’s now with the upwardly mobile James Owen in Newmarket. He’s been off the track for 18 months but off 139 with a decent claimer on board reducing the burden by a further 5lbs he’s worth an each punt at 16/1. Interestingly fiddling Dan has the favourite. In the cavalry charge at Newmarket my pin landed on Paddy the Squire @ 28/1 ew. Has form on soft ground and further and this will be needed today in the conditions. Good luck all.
Morning Chan. I always think horses that are good 4YO hurdlers often need a bit further as they get older - recent Triumph winners Tiger Roll and Defi Du Seuil being prime examples. Whilst Allmankind did win the Old Roan Chase 3 years ago he never seemed to look as though stamina would be his forte, so it will be interesting to see how he goes on his first try back at 2 miles over hurdles since finishing a close 3rd at Chepstow just prior to that Old Roan win. If the new surroundings have rekindled the spark and the claimer is worth his claim then yes, he could go close today.
15:45 Curragh - Dante's Lad e/w Declan McDonogh rides for the J. P. O'Brien stable. Valuable very open 7f event, so they'll all be giving it a go. Looks as though this Wootton Bassett colt could be an improving type? 8/1 best price in most places early-doors, on the ATR site.
