Ive been in Durban SA for the last 5 weeks, my favourite restaurant by far is Butcher Boys, they do the best steaks ive ever had. Have you been?
Don't think we have a Butcher Boy restaurant in Mossel Bay, but we are going to one tonight called Butchers Crossing and their steaks of out of this world...maybe the same franchise
Yes that's the one, them they merged with Brinkburn, then rebuillt and called it South Shields community college, then pulled it down. South Shields Community School was a coeducational secondary school located in South Shields, Tyne and Wear, England, with pupils aged from 11 to 16.[1] The school was formed from the amalgamation of Brinkburn School and King George V School. The school opened at the former Brinkburn School site in McAnany Avenue in South Shields in April 2007. The school is part of the South Tyneside and Gateshead Building Schools for the Future Programme and moved into a new £20M building on the site of the former King George V School in 2011. From 2018 the school is underwent a controlled closure which was completed at the end of the 2019/2020 academic school year
I've been in South Africa for about 7 months after a really wonderful 12 years in Abu Dhabi. I actually really like South Africa, the place is beautiful and for the most part meets all of our needs. However.... I am starting to get homesick and I really don't know why. My life style here is good, the weather is amazing, the golf courses are world class, the food is great, but for whatever reason I yearn to be back in the UK. It maybe a temporary thing, but it's effecting my general demeanour . I'm planning a 2 month stay back in the UK early next year, which will hopefully help to make my mind up either to persevere here in SA or return to Blighty.
I can't help with the rest, but 'll probably be able to help out with tickets for home games when you're here
Just seen this thread as I try and buy a home in Australia. English houses. Australian houses are a ****ing joke. No double glazing and no insulation. Weird given where I am bounces between 0 and 40 degrees over the course of the year. For some reason they don't like living/front rooms either. They weirdly put a bedroom at the front of the house and stick a TV and sofa in a corner of a ghastly open plan living area and pretend it's a room. It's also not great that a starter home without any double glazing or insulation or a front ****ing room costs about $750,000/£400,000.
I did read once that Australia has some of the highest house prices anywhere. Not sure how people afford to live there
Until you pointed it out I never gave it a second thought. That said, I like not having a washing machine in my kitchen. I quite like my house mind.
Me and the wife are struggling. Just heard a second kid is on the way so really ****ing need to get out of a rental. Sure there are good houses out there and given the size of the country it will differ from place to place but where we are now feelss like a ****ing gouge. I need to be a millionaire to buy a house that feels like it doesn't have a enough insulation to block out the sound of a butterfly's fart on the front lawn.
If it makes you feel any better Lads....In my area of South Africa ( which is very safe ) you can buy a 5 bed home, with about half an acre of land, Pool 3 car garage overlooking the ocean in a gated community for around 175 thousand quid.....sickening isn't it
In fairness if I ever return to the old country it would likely be East Anglia. In another life I was attached to the Royal Anglian regiment and was based in Colchester. As the regiment, by its name, recruited from the east of England I spent time there and really liked the little villages and towns in that region.
