I don't deny you've watched them, although just cos I disagree with you doesn't mean I haven't watched them.
Chelsea finished 6th last season, bought more players and look very good this season. I don't know why anyone is trying to imply Newcastle are better side with better players right now. I assume they're still stuck in 2022.
Cos Chelsea are a clusterfuck mishmash of a billion overpaid players and egos, no idea what there first team is and still with a huge mess to sort out. The amount they've spend they should be easily challenging for the title, but they only scraped into the top 6 this year and missed out on it the year before.
I think they’re both different kinds of mess but with the players Chelsea have are far more likely to find a solution than a team regularly playing Murphy, Krafth, Almiron, Longstaff, Burn and even Pope, Hall and Trippier.
If that was the case then they would have found a solution 2 years ago when they started signing all those players for a fortune. It's clearly a huge problem there, anyone can see that.
I think he means recent form, as Chelsea are fourth in the “2024” table (annual rather than seasonal). Newcastle are 5th for balance but we can see from the way both are playing there’s things to sort out in both camps. But as I said in my opinion I would rather be looking at Neto, Felix, Chalobah, James, Chilwell and so on to help improve my team than Krafth, Almiron, Longstaff, Trippier, etc.
You reeling off their players then listing a load of us to try to say that means they're automatically a better team doesn't work. We hammered them 4-1 at SJP with those players and their squad had far more big names in it than ours. Their problem has always been the amount of players and a lack of consistency, which is still is now. We don't need mangled statistics to try to say otherwise.
I don't disagree on their lack of consistency, previously, and should they find some then that's all top four places in the league gone. But they're showing signs of getting better. All I did was list a few of their squad players, and ours, to point out the gulf in quality and didn't really mangle anything - they were crap first half of last season, got their act together towards the end and have carried that on so the annual points accruel seemed about right. They finished above us last season too, so we could just as easily use finishing positions in 23/24, unless that's also mangling a stat? They are also in a position where they can sell squad players for huge amounts of money.
You do realise that we were ahead of Chelsea the entire season up until 2 games to go, when they managed to nick 6th spot? To talk about them being miles ahead of us is ludicrous, they're not. Your evidence that they're miles better is just a good finish to the season....the good finish which still includes such moments as them losing the League Cup so Liverpool's second team, Desaso booting the ball into his own net from 30 yards, losing 0-5 to Arsenal, and Wolves hammering them at their own place.
And they've also been one of the best teams in the country for a while and Newcastle are at an all time low.
