It still looks to me as if he is dragging his feet. And by 2026, we are halfway to another GE and so the review goes on. He would not be reversing Brexit by rejoining the CU and SM as the UK would not have rejoined politically. This is what Bunter should have negotiated in the first place. Instead he managed to pi** everybody off.
More lies I suppose. https://www.spiked-online.com/2024/09/24/the-mets-outrageous-persecution-of-hatun-tash/
As I said rejoining CU and SM would have met many of the criteria for membership, freedom of movement and adherence to trade regulations, that would have had the vociferous minority foaming mad and likely cost the election had rejoin been part of the manifesto.
Selling shares could lead to taxes being paid on the profit. I found this from a couple of years ago about Musk using his Tesla shares as collateral to by Twitter. Very interesting.

The fault lies with those who have pro-EU leanings at the beginning. Farage et al had a very simple message, "Bring back our sovereignty," and it worked because it was rammed down our throats for 30 years or so. Now they want "my country back." Simple slogan but it works. So those ministers with pro-EU leanings need to squeeze Starmer by the bollox and come up with an effective slogan and repeat it ad nauseum until the message sinks in. For example, "Brexit isn't working" and back it up with the trade figures and the GDP stats. Repeat the message particularly when news of another manufacturing plant .closes down or a service transfers to an EU country. Highlight the impact it is having on the nation's favourite musicians like Ed Sherrin and Adela who undoubtedly want to do European tours. The message will sink in when repeated often enough but it isn't!!!
Quite funny to watch labour **** everything up actually. I knew they’d be awful but I didn’t think they’d be this awful, this quickly. Bunch of corrupt, lying, thieving twats
The fact is that Starmer is getting it in the arse for "being honest" from most of the mainstream media. They dislike his bleak outlook. Yet people have said for years they want no bullshit, tell it like it is politics. And then you have people like Os and co who "knew" beforehand what "evils" Labour would commit and have scoured every right wing outlet to prove it.
Well, no, Os has got a point. After all, the Tories did such a good job of running the country for the benefit of everyone, not just the friends of the Tory party, that the country gave them an overwhelming mandate to continue, at the last General Election. Oh, no, hang on....
I’m not happy with the own goals Starmer has been knocking in as it shows a complete and utter disregard to the public who were expecting him to knock the freebies on the head. I don’t care that he is being transparent about the gifts and donations. I care that he and his colleagues have been accepting them after years of their having hammered the Tories for doing the same - although the Tories did take the piss. At a time when the winter fuel allowance is front page news, I think the greedy MPs, who are already benefiting from a tranche of taxpayer paid benefits, and who are among those with “the broadest shoulders”, should be declining donations.
Yeah that’s where I am with it. I get the argument that freebies are a part of life, and we want our leaders to represent/look smartly dressed etc, but it’s a very thin one for people in power. To give you an example, people at Reuters aren’t even allowed to accept a cup of coffee bought for them by a client etc, that’s how preciously they cling to the idea of not being influenced/maintaining a lack of bias. There’s no reason politicians shouldn’t do same.
What have Labour ****ed up? They've very obviously ****ed up the way people see and think of them. Starmer's approval rating is now lower than Rishi Sunak's and only Liz Truss has had a low approval rating this century, which is extraordinary given he's been in power less than 3 months. Polls also suggest 14% of people who voted Labour in July now regret it. We now have this story coming about about how he recorded a broadcast to the nation in 2021, urging to people to work from home, in Lord Alli's flat, which was dressed up to look like it was his.
Like a stuck record, Starmer is keeping on about no rules having been broken. Which though true regards what's been reported, the public clearly think what's happened is wrong. The guy needs some basic flex in these stances, this new government are overly keen to adopt. What he could add to "no rules have been broken" is; now the public have been heard, we will now operate with higher integrity, beyond the bar the current rules set, we are willing to be held accountable. Labour will maintain this standard going forward.
Similar for me and the Bank I work for. If a client so much as mentions a coffee or even a sandwich I have to decline it. I was in the office last year and we had a client onsite and I bought him roll from the office shop - I wasn't even going to claim back for myself but I then got told I had to claim back for myself and declare I bought a 3rd party a roll. a bloody £3.95 roll. That I wasn't claiming back and just bought it as I was in the queue.
