It was never going to be as quick and easy as the Saudis or their fans expected! They aren't the only ones with money to spend and most the others with money to spend have a better history, bigger name and more chance of immediate success so are more attractive to players and managers!

I think they expected to breeze in, spend unlimited amounts of money and sweep everyone else aside. Maybe that's unfair to them but that's how it's looked to me.

The various financial constraints and lack of success will be killing their interest. Like a kid playing with a cheap remote control car, do you keep on replacing the batteries or do you buy a better car.

I don't think the Saudis have got much interest them now, I think they've realised they could have achieved what they wanted without them.
    Buyer remorse? Maybe.

IMO, they bought them as a means to an end, they wanted a higher profile in world sport, but they wanted it in Saudi...Formula 1, Golf, Boxing, and they wanted the world cup. They wanted the events to be held in Saudi, for the Saudi people. A way to appease the dissidents of the regime.

The money they put up to get these events in Saudi meant governing bodies, golfers, boxers, drivers, footballers etc were only too happy to take the money on offer.
Just turns out they didn't need the mags to achieve this.

They've had them a few years now, but what use are they to the Saudis now?
If they sold them tomorrow it wouldn't make the slightest difference to the Saudis, it wouldn't lessen their standing in world sport, yet keeping them won't enhance it either.

I often wear football tops when on holiday (not always Sunderland ones) but it's more a comfort thing as they are light, cool comfortable and dry quickly so are ideal for beach or pool days. It is not a look at me I am a Sunderland fan thing more a comfort and practicality thing.

Quite right mate, Ashley knew that, the Saudis were his escape route.

What they've actually bought is a landlocked crumbling stadium, that needs serious structural repairs, built on land they can never own. Moving, if they want to spend the next five years building one would cost a fortune, take them out of town and involve a huge sum to demolish SJP and return the land, cleared and useable, to the Freemen of the City.

They're 'represented' by supporters who had to be told not to embarrass them by wearing dressings gown and tea towels then doing a sand dance for the cameras.

Newcastle is a great place for weekend stag nights but far from the cosmopolitan and cultural mix like London. The kind of players they'll attract will become bored with the place as will their Wags who'll find there's only a dozen decent shops and restaurants. They and the owners will realise it's nothing like the Capital for entertaining guests, a bunch of Arabs out in town would cause serious hysteria whereas in London it's a regular occurence.

They'd have been better off buying West Ham tbh ...

... but, to be fair their training sessions look quite strenuous <laugh>

Isn't this the daft **** that had a flag of the score in the final against an City? I'd laugh if they got beat in a final but to turn up to the next Derby match with it on a flag is rather sad.

As is his odd trainers one black and one white!
