He supposedly has a reputation for favourites but I hope he sees sense. I can kind of take Mehlem starting as he has shown some use this season. The one I want to see is Millar starting with either Balloumi or Kamara on the opposite wing instead of shoehorning Omur out wide
Was it the Millwall game when he went off we looked like offering nothing? His direct play allows us to play a lot higher because their fullbacks are pinned back. I dont get why he's been dropped recently
Mehlem is decent at carrying the ball and wins free kicks (not a bad set piece taker either). He has a bit of nous about him. Both him and Slater are similar so I can see why they don't feature in the same team, but if all is fair, Slater should start ahead of Mehlem next game. Like was said, he had just got back from international duty and the problem with players from far away countries is the travel time. I remember Hernandez and Ramirez (the **** him) heading off and looking sluggish when they came back. Millar definitely looks direct when he comes on and that's a defender's worst nightmare, him on the left and Belloumi (who I thought was great against Stoke despite a sluggish start) on the right will trouble most Championship defenders. My Leeds supporting mate (the ****) said he was "sick of playing Millar" as he had tormented Leeds when playing for Preston the season before. After our game he said that he was our most dangerous player, which I agree with. Can see him being one that moves on for bigger money if he has a consistent season.
Yeah in fairness regarding Millar my comment was more aimed at the Stoke game. I remember him and Palmer got back the night before. I said when he played against Millwall he will likely be our top scorer and I stand by that
Ahh okay got you. I think he's a safe bet to have the most goal involvements. Bedia is a strange one, after six games we've not seen a goal from him, but I get the feeling he's still getting going. He reminds me of a better version of Caleb Folan.
Definitely a bit of a unit and causes a nuisance with his pressing but he's seeing very little of the ball. Something like 8 touches against Stoke or sheff U ? Not my figure just quoting Curtis Davies on 1904 club.
My heart initially sank with his header in the build up to the pen. Think he just misjudged it but it was a classic "head like a 50 pence piece" moment. The good thing is he was nearly on the end of some neat through balls. One that led to Johannsen going down was close
That isn't overly surprising seeing as how we seem to cut inside and then cross rather than try and play him through. He almost seems to play the role of blocker at times, tying up defences to let the wide forwards in. He's got the strength and the intelligence to win the ball high up the field and against Stoke he didn't seem to have trouble turning his man. Not sure if this annoys you as much as it does me, but that rule where somebody jumps behind you and you bend forward to let them roll off is never a ****ing foul against you. Like what are you supposed to do, give them a piggy back?! That rule basically says that they can jump into the back of you and win a free kick. Needs changed for me.
Yes I thought the same, it should have been on target but then, if he had, we wouldn't have won the penalty haha. Weird how football works out. Again, Folan sometimes had that problem, the two seem to share a lot of traits. Hopefully he pops up with some key goals like Caleb did.
Bedia’s post-match on field celebrations at Stoke will definitely endear him to fans, and shows he is feeling more confident about settling in. I think there are goals in him. And he was twice the player of Tom Cannon last Friday.
He was having his shirt pulled off his back, I’m pretty sure that’s why he fluffed the header. We should’ve had two penalties!
That's a good point actually. The cross was a generous height for him too, so he probably would have put it in. That's the story I'm going with anyway.
