Kaden Braithwaite became the club’s third youngest debutant at 16 years and 229 days. He was barged aside by Kwadwo Baah on the way to scoring an apparent equaliser, before a foul was called by David Webb, the referee. A 50-50 call, this may not have been given outside City’s area, so the youngster was lucky and the Hornets the opposite. Jamie Jackson, Guardian reporter.

TC: After giving away the early goal with another error, we played with confidence and it was a performance where we started doing the basics right again. Restored belief in ourselves. Baah had a perfectly good goal disallowed. Saw a lot of character tonight.

This is the sort of comment I like to see.

    Well done Watford.

No cheating, diving, feigning injury, dark arts, time wasting, surrounding the referee, disrupting play, blocking the goalie, early free kicks.

Decent, honest team. Good goal and unlucky with the one ruled out. Credit to the goalie too.

One thing I liked from Grealish, he was tussling with Porteus by the corner flag and Porteus went down and got the free kick, Gralish helped him up and patted him on the back and appeared to wink at him as if to say Well done you got me there

I think the City players appreciated the Watford performance and Pep certainly congratulated Tom on our overall performance

It was a good game. Lots of shoulds and would of alternative worlds there. They had a ton of chances too. At least we lost by a low margin.

    Yew seen the highlights.

Bond certainly had a good game and there was some last ditch defending .

But we also could have had 2 more goals .

I guess you have to factor in the fact that last night they fielded at least one player who cost more than our stadium and whole squad together, so it's not too surprising.

Compare two shoulder charges, and the different outcomes.

They probably haven’t cared ages for years but win it as these top teams have the best squads so their reserves win anyway as the other weaker teams don’t bother either .

The highlights made it sound like a continuous wall of noise. Well, from where I was standing, all the noise came from us. Citeh's style of play just doesn't engender excitement. It was only when we charged down the pitch was there anything like excitement. I know it sounds churlish, but Guardiola had develpsoed a successful method, but the excitement/entertainment level is awful. The city supporters I met - very pleasant people indeed - were the same as at the Cup Fiinal. They like seeing them win, don't enjoy it much otherwise. In passing., Guardiola has transformed the extremely talented footballer that is Grealish into an ineffective ballboy. Sad.
I thought Louza would be better than he was - Baah is a real threat, Bayo is extremely wasteful, Georgi lights up any game, and TDB manages the play very well.
Perhaps we'll get more out of this game than it might seem as it might encourage a better level of play in our upcoming matches.

Trouble is everyone tries to copy his way of getting teams to play and actually for most it doesn’t really work and not easy to watch .

Klopp’s Liverpool were more entertaining for example.

The positives of last night far outweigh the negatives. Really, it feels like a win.
