-------------------------------------------------------Is this really good enough ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It was reported that Manning was under pressure ahead of the Oxford United win. It's a difficult one, I don't think he should be sacked. His record isn't brilliant like it has been in his previous jobs, 42 games as Bristol City manager, won 14, drawn 13 and lost 15 games.

    ----------------------------------Won a third-lost a third-drawn a third----------------------------------------

If your Granny and all that......
But there's no doubt the forums would have been toxic if Harris hadn't missed from 3 yards.

Finger's crossed Manning's had a Robins and Fergie moment.

The Jury on Manning is still out for me
I don't particularly want him sacked, but I want to see us have some genuine progress and tbh, I'm not seeing a lot of that at the moment.

The question as when to fire a manager is a difficult one but I don't think Liam is quite there just yet, but it must surely come under severe scrutiny should we fail badly in the next 4 or 5 games. My biggest concern is that the progress I thought I saw recently appears to have all but disappeared. Relying on a couple of players who are currently getting treatment for injuries is another of my worries because it means we lack suitable replacements to get the job done. I believe we have to give Liam until late October to really evaluate his performance but after that time it might be too late for any new manager to get on board and see what is needed, if anything, in the January transfer window. Two wins in our next two games may quieten the crowd for a while whereas 2 losses may finally upset the apple cart and require a change of direction.

Many of us have the same opinion on Manning. But we just get called Nige luvvies load of nonsense <laugh>

Let’s see if he’s actually learnt something and wait and see the starting 11 for Swansea, for example drop Williams and play Twine where he’s best not out on the left.

People may call me a 'Nige Luvvie' I rated the bloke highly and without a doubt think he put our club back on the recovery road, when the dynamic 2 chived him in the back I was disgusted but that is now all history, Manning is now the man in charge, I've always advocated the first 10 to 12 games of 2024/25 to make a judgement, I quite like the guy, he is quiet, reasonably diplomatic, he has made mistakes but he still has not cut the mustard enough to totally convince me, I support him and will continue to do so and hope he succeeds in his efforts.

People could regard me as a 'Nige Luvvie' but like Beeching he had a plan and they are both history.

    horses for courses.

however "hindsight" points to both doing their job but it was always going end with not the perfect outcome

Yes, but Nige left us a solid base to build from. That’s a POSITIVE legacy.
Beeching left us with a depleted rail infrastructure that would cost £billions to rebuild and cemented our reliance on road transportation - allegedly giving his relatives lucrative motorway building contracts at the same time.
Maggie bloody Thatcher came along later and sold off the land where the old railways used to run (along with other UK assets), thus ensuring that they could NEVER be replaced without unaffordable cost and disruption.

I think choosing LM was a realization that the thoughts of 2016 were the way to go but sight was lost of the plan with the advent of Covid........ plan was a seamless transfer of "jobs" should there be a need hence DH + the 2 coach's ... then even though safely placed decided to move him on .... 2 coach's took over with a couple unexpected wins ... then decision to press restart ...... was it a good move or a bad one ? There is a case to say both ... and in the end we are where we are ..... 12 games a quarter of the season should be 19 points minimum AT 23 games 38 points should allow for a leap of faith! Less than 33 points then a big leap of faith.

Harris shouldn’t have missed - Ive scored more difficult goals than that, but miss he did - and Armstrong’s miss was also lucky for them (not as blatant I admit), but their goal had a large element of luck too - the deflection placed the ball in exactly the right place for their lad to pick his spot.
We get lucky sometimes and sometimes we get unlucky.
They got lucky with their goal, hit the bar and missed a sitter.
We scored 2 perfectly good goals and missed a good opportunity (I won’t call it a sitter).
Either way we won 2-1 and the other stats from the game would suggest we deserved the win.

How does it compare to Nige’s record out of interest?
    I doubt you will respond.

errr Nige and Liams circumstances are so different as you well know.
Nige had to cut cut cut and sell the prized assets and bring kids through.
Liams had the war chest given to him.
I want all manger's to do well.
But the reality is all managers don’t do well.
LM stats carrying on as we are - mid table.Nige finished higher under circumstances that were no where near the luxury’s Liam has had.

Not in his first season, he still had a strong squad, plus all his experience compared to LM don’t forget. That squad that NP inherited had been top half and went to the final game of the season in 2 seasons with a slim chance of the play offs. Nige nearly took them down, then sold the ‘family jewels’…

Supcon - you keep forgetting that successive top half ends to the season are irrelevant because it was LJ.
Please don’t make them repeat themselves….. they will start going on about money spent blah blah whereas we just look at the table - which counts for nothing.
