Yup. Everyone focused on real mouthing off about super leagues and ignored this new format. I think this will be a thin edge of the wedge now. The top leagues will be invited to protect players by reducing to 18 clubs next. Then this will be expanded again for more games but games home and away with top sides.
I see ManU turned another corner in the first 20mins tonight, only to turn another corner in the 2nd half to cling onto a 0-0 with Palace
this format is based on the parts of the ESL format and PL was meant to be 18 clubs but once it had started they stopped at 20 . you might want to wait until you have actually seen how this works before condemning it.
This is just a matter of fact. They are adding games and trying to make a three tier league system. Drip drip drip. The prem and other leagues have refused to drop numbers for a long time. Serie a added 2 teams to come to 20 in 2004. La liga tried to go to 22 teams breifly in tjr 1990s and dropped back to 20. Nobody wants to drop games. My point is the obvious place for uefa and fifa to push back is to tell domestic competitions to reduce first. Everyone wants more games for their tournament as more games = more money. They'll try to get to 10 games from 8 in these leagues next.
Arsenal are playing physical game and Ma nchester City. Manchester City 1: 2 Arsenal. Arsenal down to 10 men.
You’d think arsenal would learn but then again sums up arteta team. Go down easy, constant push the boundaries and rightfully been punished for it.
Stung by criticism for interfering too much, VAR has now taken the opposite position of hardly getting involved at all.
