Franny Norton retirement day. Has a full book of rides at Chester and looks like a number of trainers are looking to send him out on a winner.
Wish Frannie a long and happy retirement, A top professional jockey, with Chester his favourite track, I bet!
Aramis Grey , ayr gold cup , if the breaks come more favourably than last time , could win this at tasty odds
The draw bias in the Bronze sprint yesterday was massively in favour of the low numbers. However, I think that might simply have been a case of where the pace in the race was. In the Silver race today I can see a similar far side burn up and think you need to be looking at the low numbers. RHYTHM N HOOVES catches my eye from 5, dosent mind a cavalry charge at all. The Gold race is much less easier to predict with low pace coming from Sergeant Wilkie and mid to high from Lethal Levi. I like ROOM SERVICE but can easily make a case for half the field.
The (14:05) at Newbury, a Class-2 affair over a slightly-extended 1m5f on heavy ground, will certainly be a real slog in the current track conditions. Without further blah-blah, selection is the Golden Horn filly, Our Golden One, who should be well-suited by today's demanding going. Hollie Doyle on board the 3YO filly for the the Upper Lambourn stable of Tom Ward. 11/1 (Wm.Hill/BetUK) top price early-doors, on the ATR site. E/W best option. Have an enjoyable and successful weekend, folks,
17;00 Newbury - City Of York Silvestre de Sousa rides for the David Simcock yard. 11/2 (Wm.Hill) best price early-doors, on the ATR site.
Maw Lam ran a cracker in the 3.00 Ayr, showing what he can do when not being left with too much to. 28/1 must have been due to some tardy starts but he has been running well, despite that, in G2s and must surely have another race or 2 in her
OMG what a close race, apart from the winner. Mine 5th in a photo. Several paying out on first 5/6 so happy with that. Trainer got the 123, amazing
Looking at his last race, he definitely had the form to run well at 20/1. With hindsight, if I had had the time I might well have included him for a place as I was just looking at winning horses and their race times but didn't get to that one
The race that never quite did what it said on the tin. According to forum fave, Mr Google, it was withdrawn from the racecard in 2023 (2022 the last running). Was also for a time known as the Legacy Cup.
Just wanted to give a mention for the very admirable Not So Sleepy who bowed out on a 10 year flat/NH career with a win yesterday. What a horse he has been. Loved to bowl along at the front of the field and see what the oppo had. Ok not top top table but 12 wins in 69 racecourse appearances and over £430k in prize money. Won 2 Grade 1s in the NH sphere, albeit 1 of those was a dead heat. Ran respectably in the Champion Hurdle without ever looking like winning. On the flat won up to listed level and again ran with credit in a few Group 3s. Also was placed 3 times in the Cesarewitch. Some return that over 10 years and some constitution too as he doesn’t appear to have ever suffered an injury of note. I hope he has a very long and leisurely retirement.
