Ah, did he take the armband when he came on against Everton?

He had the armband when Stephens wasn't playing in pre-season.

The three things we need to overcome, imo, is our poor defending from set pieces, being caught by quick counter attacks and scoring some goals.
Simple if you say it quickly.
I want to see creativity in the middle and recognise that the creative players may not be the best defensively but I hope RM is “brave” enough to go for goals even at risk of being hurt by a breakaway.
This is the most winnable league game of the season so far.

I fear for the crowd reaction if we lose this one.
Think the club will stick with Martin regardless but there’s a vocal minority desperately ready to make sure they are heard.

Hoping for a positive 4-3-3 again

    Ramsdale
    Sugawara Bednarek THB KWP
    Downes Lesley
    Dibling Fernandes Cornet
    Archer

Subs; McCarthy, Taylor, Wood, Lallana, Aribo, Armstrong, Fraser, Diaz , Stewart

I thought Cornet hasn't been that great tbh, much rather confinue with BBD.

We used to be constantly reminded of the 'dropping points from winning position' stats.

Now it would be nice even to get into a ****ing winning position.

    The moment is now.

Let’s just hope this is more like Adkins v Villa in 2012 and not like Nathan Jones v Forest 2023

We have dropped 4 points from drawing positions this season, if it helps?

Well while we were drawing we had one each game, right? So we lost 4 points. We never had a lead?

I think there is a chance Aribo will start instead of Lallana.

Why are people writing off Lesley? I'd like to see him start again. Need to be relatively consistent with our team selection imo to try and build a settled side.

From last week I'd have THB in for Jack and Cornet/Fraser in for Diaz.

    No other changes made imo.

I guess it’s the “do you play 2 more defensive minded mids at home”, especially in what looks like our easiest home game of the season on paper at least.

Both Downes and Ugochukwu look like they like moving forward a bit, but Lallana is definitely more attack minded.

Not sure about Ipswich’s midfield, I know they signed Phillips but not sure who else is in there. It was crap last year with Morsy and Luongo so I assume they have upgraded it.

I think I’d go with Ugochukwu and Downes to start, maybe with Lallana ahead of them and Fernandes to replace him after 60 mins. Dibling on the right and Cornet on the left, Archer central

    Sutton's prediction: 1 - 1
This time, it smells like a draw to me. I can't choose between either team, even though I know how much they would both give for all three points.

    James's prediction: 1 - 2
I am Team Ipswich' this year, only because of Ed Sheeran!

Ipswich's midfield was crap last season?

Based on what exactly? If anything their weakness was not having a proper striker until they loaned in Moore. Apart from that they were solid all over.

Town fans I know were raving about Morsy in particular.

I want Lallana over Ugo for the experience. We know too well what happens when there are too many young and inexperienced.

We will already have Dibling, Fernandes, Archer on the pitch. With Ugo in as well, it feels too much like 22/23 again.
