I also thought Regis press conference was interesting, get the runners in behind and create overloads, basically the wingers dont have to beat everyone, listening to the podcast this morning and the boro lad reckons their left back isnt very good
Bones of my arse this month so won’t get to this one. Will be watching somewhere with family no doubt
Haway the friggin lads ! I’ve got my new away shirt delivered for this one and can’t wait for the Not A Derby. really, really don’t want to get beat this time.
Pleased Ballard is ok. I would stick with him and Onien personally. One bad game doesnt change who he is. Shame about Browne, but for me he is still 4th choice for the 3 midfield spots. He bas done well when in, but doesnt have that class the other 3 have. I am sure at some point he will get his run and bring a level of stability, but frankly I enjoy watching the vibrancy of our 3 young guns. Would like to see Neil step up 5% mind. He is far from poor but I think he could go up a gear yet. Rigg will score this weekend. Due one. Jobe as well due one.
Rigg for me aswell. If you look at our chance creation at home, he's on the end of some decent ones, and will be playing the highest of the 3. It'll probably bite me on the arse but I don't rate Carrick as highly as some. Spent a fortune and under performed imo. Similar to us under Mowbray, that I don't think he's got a plan b and gets stuck against teams that sit in. Need to win the midfield battle and let Mundle and Roberts get at the fullbacks. There left back is average and Ayling likes to get forward so will hopefully leave Mundle a load of space.
Yeah I can't see them sitting in, so hopefully leaves Mundle and Roberts space to thrive in. Wasn't it last years home game where Robert skinned about 5 then missed a sitter when it was nil nil? Hopefully that goal last week gives him more confidence to go out and do his thing.
Boro fan here. On paper this is probably our toughest game of the season so far. Our start has been average but we’ve bartered every team we’ve played bar probably Preston most recently (still should have won). I think we are still top of the xG charts 5 games. It’s just we've been unable to finish our chances and put games to bed. Similar story for us last year.. Got a feeling someone’s going to be on the end of a thrashing soon enough, hopefully it’s you guys. Midfield should be a really interesting battle on Saturday. You have three young players with energy and youth on there side. We have Hackney and Morris as our 2 ‘holders’. We all know what Hackney can do and is one of the best youngsters in the league. Aidan Morris has probably been our best player this year so far though. Been a complete revelation in midfield and can do everything. Has an engine, gets on the ball and plays forward when he can but has a bite to his game and is more defensively aware then Howson. Going forward we have a million option but it’ll likely be Azaz on the left as an inside forward, Conway behind Latte Lath as a second striker/no.10 and Jones or Doak on the right. I’m hoping McGree is fit for this as imo hes our best forward player but he’s been out since the first game so unlikely to start.
Agree about Ballard and Browne. If Dan's ok to play, which would be great news after it looked like he was crocked, he's straight back in for me. Browne looks good but as you say the competition is stiff and you generally want to give the young lads priority when possible. I'd stick with Mayenda too, Isidor looks canny but Mayenda has done well and it's not a good idea to drop players in that position if they don't deserve it.
