As the title says a couple of thoughts to discuss. 1. If we didn't spend the time getting the keeper too good to turn down we could have used that time to get a much needed striker. He might be too good yo turn down but we don't really need him. 2. If we're not going to defend why play defenders. We'd be better of playing those with better ball control and passing in the traditional defence positions.
How’s our keeper who’s too good to turn down going to get on the pitch? Our number one keeper’s doing ok, no current reason to bench him. Our substitute keeper will probably take his chance if and when it comes his way. Two injuries are unlikely. No one’s too good to turn down if they’re not good enough to get in the matchday squad.
1. Not getting that striker was absolutely nothing to do with how time was used 2. ? Of course we're going to defend and need defenders!
To be fair, there's only 8 ( I think ) teams that have conceded less then us and neither goals Friday night came from a team cutting us open, it came from 2 stupid individual mistakes....we have some quite pressing and possibly serious issues ATM. But defending isn't near the top of the list. For what it's worth I don't think Tim will see out the year, but I also don't think it's his fault so far, he's been shafted from above.....but if he's got the quality his reputation says he has then he should be able to create a team out the hand he's been delt. It's all in his hands now and should be supported by fans and the press for at least a month or 2.
Agree, can’t criticise the defending when we don’t actually bother to defend in the first place. I hadn’t thought of looking at it like that.
Still doesn't change the fact that neither goal happens if we don't make 2 individual mistakes. Bar those 2 individual errors did sheff utd actually cause us any real issues? Nothing stands out for me. I'm really not sure what it is about us, but no matter the gaffer, we just seem to concede from individual errors way to often
I don’t think the players are playing for him, maybe as a result of the double sessions and some other things they don’t like such as less days off etc. Equally doesn’t seem to be any team spirit, it’s very much the old guard as one group and then the new players. I noticed on Friday when he brought Millar and Drameh on at half time, they were left to warm themselves up, the fitness coach was kicking the ball about with the group of players who were here last season. Usually the fitness coach would be giving them a few drills to do. A small thing in isolation but a few small things like that can have a big difference. That tone comes from the top. It might come good but the above two are very difficult to change if everyone isn’t pulling in the same direction.
It's suicide. The coaching staff must tell them to be that gung-ho from corners as it's far from normal. And it's not like we changed the approach after conceding the 1st either.
I echo your thoughts a few rumours that he has lost the dressing room already as I said only a few rumours
Not sure if Tim lost dressing room, usually these gossips are created by players who can't find a place in team, right now we are just assembling the team, no one can say I didn't play enough, yet.
It was that we got turned down by at least seven strikers that we know of, and ultimately ran out of time. This is a problem that isn't talked about enough. Acun has plenty of ambition and does spend money, but at times he has real trouble convincing anyone to take the money he's trying to spend. This has been the case with both managers and players.
The warning should have been Leeds. But then to concede another 2 from the turnover following our own attacking set piece is just incompetence. It's not about short corner or long corner, because we've been on done on both.
You can see that hype-loss even in Turkish market, we were able to attract Tufan and Omur, who were international stars at that point, but now even ordinary players from Turkey don't see Hull as a stepping stone to PL, which is weird because we already made sure Jaden, Delap, Greaves reach that level. I am not telling Turkish market turned out great for us, so may be it is a good thing but somehow we even lost our attraction in that market. Since foreign player limit is relaxed in Turkey, I would expect us to get couple of good bargains who can't play now, such as Cengiz Under.
I don't understand why so much focus of your posting here focuses on identity and politics. But ultimately we now have a squad with potential, so surely we can now park the signing suggestions and all that stuff until January? At the end of the day, we have a squad with potential. It's really something that needs to be sorted out on the training ground. Sooner rather than later.
There's a lot of potential in it but to a degree there's been a lot of overexcitement especially on Social Media. For example, I saw people raving about Puerta signing, but I questioned how we could effectively scout a player who only played 230 mins last season. Before that, he was in the German 2nd tier where he couldn't get a game. He did well at youth level internationally but that was 18 months ago, it just looks like the definition of a punt. And I read that we paid a 400k loan fee, so it's not a cheap punt either.
If he's costing us 10k a week with no obligation beyond June, it is a cheap punt by championship standards.
