My point earlier was name a coach who we would have a chance of getting realistically. We have to realise where we are. We’ve been outside pl for most of two decades. Anyone under age of 25 can’t remember us being anything other than useless except for the Bielsa era. Top managers won’t touch us except maybe old fat Sam types. I personally think it a waste of time dreaming about coaches that are currently way above our level. But hey, if it keeps you going then by all means keep believing that. I also only sai we won’t finish top six. We’re miles better than bottom half
Fair play for suggesting a credible name. Would he want the gig and what’s his experience at winning promotion. Doubt current owners will ask those questions given their lack of knowledge of the English game. By the way lads can I say it’s such a pleasure debating with you lot as always. No insults. Always enjoyable. Top lads
ANY team that goes up from this league needs to have some large slices of luck along the way. Burnley rode their luck today. They created very little. We had them under control for 95% of the game. Their goal came from a slip by Solomon. Unfortunately that was the definitive moment. If we look at the Portsmouth game, yes we were sloppy at times but that is a game we win 9 out of 10 times. That's 2 games where opposing teams have just had the bounce of the ball. It swings and roundabouts. It's a 46 game season, there's a long way to go. The positives from today are that we pretty much outplayed the 2nd favourites for the league with a team that have spent most of this week flying around the world. We've also got a lot of new players that might need time to gel. We'll only get better from here. Am I pissed off with the result? Yes. Am I ready to sack everybody and start again? No. The signs are there that we will get a substantial amount of points on the board this season. I really like Joseph but it's becoming a common occurrence that he's missing the easy chances. That miss in the first minute was almost a Bamford attempt. How much patience have we got with him? If we are to go up, he needs to start hitting the onion bag and not the corner flag.
Again, I didn’t say a better coach isn’t out there, I asked what one would come here. Secondly, yes I agree we need a better goalkeeper but who is available that we can afford? Likewise for the other positions you mentioned. Can’t keep knee jerking if there’s no plan to improve.
Lose our first game against last year prem team and all the toys are flying out the pram. Might as well blame Orta for our players shooting.
Not knee jerking, I said we missed the boat preseason in replacing him and now we have little option but to remain how we are. I wouldn’t sack him now, I would have preseason. I believe despite the sales, we still have one of the best squads in the division, we’re not asking a coach to work miracles, he has a great set of players to work with
I know many are nor bothered about ex-players but Rutter started for Brighton and missed a one on one. Was subbed after an hour. Summerville came off the bench for West Ham to little effect. There's the two lads who 'made the difference' for us last season.
A couple of us thought FARKE should have been sacked after the disasterous ending of last season. Yesterday saw a continuation of last season. Teams who come to play we beat, but weaker teams with better coaches come to park the bus and counter attack, they also press. Look at the teams who took points off last season all doing the same thing. Farkeball means going backwards as his players are told to do that rather than lose the ball. Too predictable and too easy to counter.
agree with all of this. The key moments in this game all went against us. And key moments change games. Replay this game 5 times and we win 4 in my opinion. That great run we went on last year after Christmas - we won several games playing crap. I wasn’t ecstatic with the transfer window but we still have probably the best squad in the division. We’ll be top 6. Top 2? Well we should be and that will be on Farke.
If we had this mythical new coach (not a hope of it being Potter and some other of the names you threw out there), he couldn’t have prevented Joseph and Gnonto from missing sitters, the ref not awarding us a stonewall penalty or Solomon from slipping over. They were the key moments for why we lost this game. I really can’t see why Farke is to blame for them?
Most football people would say Leeds have the best squad in the league and again based upon squad value Leeds are at the top. 13 of the squad are internationals. So for me it comes down to the manager. And on the argument about who would replace FARKE, anybody. I got laughed at for mentioning Corberan last season but even though many in here hate him, he has no money, he has a squad valued down near the bottom yet he has rescued Huddersfield and stabalised them, then took them into the playoffs. He left them and joined a skint WBA and took them into the playoffs for the last 2 seasons. Imagine if he had our squad. He is a coach that adapts tactics to fit the opposition, so can play low block, park the bus, full on attacking but he does it with no money and low qualty players…
I'm at the club store at Elland Road and no way i am paying £150 for a crappy parka. Just having a look around while my mate arrives from keighley to bring me something. Might tell him i am inside and make him come in as he is a man utd life long fan.
Tell him you're thinking of buying a parka and was wondering what they'd look like on, ask him to model it for you, quick photo and send it to his other mates
2 wins from the last 8 home games, really not good enough. Playing football like it's a game of chess, isn't entertaining but you can just about stomach it if it's getting results but when it's not. The first subs killed our momentum yesterday and they were the wrong ones.
