A game that is so important in many ways-

Firstly Bristol City have won once in 5 games and a certain Andi Weinman is going to be playing against the side he played the biggest part of his football for. Clearly wanting to show his credentials.
For me it was time for Andi to move on as his game had gone stale at Ashton Gate-I also believe that to be the case with another in Nahki Wells another that should have been moved on. A player that has lost his pace-flair and appetite at Ashton Gate.

Blackburn currently sit 5th in the championship on 8 points with 2 wins and two draws. Bristol City with one win Two Draws-One lost on 5 points.
Blackburn did beat Derby 4-2 at home on the 9th Aug 2024-where Bristol City were made to look silly against Derby at Pride Park.

Liam Manning surely knows that he needs to play Armstrong and Fally as a front pair and start using them. Both have excellent and different attributes that will cause teams problems. He needs to sit Scott Twine central behind them and build his team around them. For me the way he sets the team up is not working and needs addressing.

Another game that if he really is serious of a top six finish he needs to be taking points as they are one of the weaker sides in the division.

Game five this will be and unless the pattern changes over the next five i really think LM will come under pressure as the Lansdown's have invested and backed him this year.
There have been glimpses of nice football but the consistency never lasts.
I am hoping for a 2-1 away win -however this could easily end in a draw. If we lose this then the signs going forward are concerning as one win in six is no where near the levels of a top six finish.
Let's hope Liam Manning can turn it around and get the three points Saturday.

Does seem strange we spend £6million on 2 strikers not to play them.

Crazy he don't know his best side-but what i have seen is the two strikers could cause major damage playing together.

Bristol City predicted team vs Blackburn Rovers: Manning to run the changes after Derby defeat
Bristol City return to the Championship this weekend after their two-week international break with a trip to Blackburn Rovers
    https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/bristol-city-predicted-team-vs-9552015
Predicted Bristol City line-up (4-2-3-1): Max O’Leary; George Tanner, Zak Vyner, Luke McNally, Cameron Pring; Joe Williams, Jason Knight; Mark Sykes, Anis Mehmeti, Scott Twine; Sinclair Armstrong

    Bristol City team news
Rob Atkinson made a massive step towards a first-team return after appearing for the under-21s in the week. He suffered an ACL injury in February 2023, and then as he tried to make a return, he was dealt a blow, but now a return is in sight.

He is now back and available for selection after coming an injury in pre-season, but Liam Manning is being cautious in his approach.

“He’s now in contention,” Manning said to BBC Radio Bristol in his pre-match press conference.

“It’s one of those where he’s in a position to compete to get into the team but at the same time you have to be mindful of what the past 18 months have looked like in terms of the sheer volume of training, the volume of match minutes.”

Luke McNally could make his debut after joining on deadline day from Burnley. McNally was signed for £1.75m, and was among the substitutes against Derby County, but didn’t come on.

George Earthy suffered an ankle injury against Coventry City and missed the trip to Derby. He was described as a big doubt prior to that match, and will also miss out against Blackburn.

Rob Dickie is unavailable for selection after suffering a hamstring injury. He came off against Coventry City, and his injury was revealed to be a serious tear of a muscle. Ayman Benarous is a long-term absentee and suffered a setback in his bid to return after more than two years out. A hamstring injury whilst playing for the under-21s has put him back on the sidelines.

Sam Bell and Ross McCrorie are both expected to be out too. He suffered an injury against Coventry City in the Carabao Cup last month, and that's forced him to miss the last three games. McCrorie is contending with a hamstring problem and is going to be out for a 'little while' by his manager's admission.

Out: Ayman Benarous, Ross McCrorie, Sam Bell, Rob Dickie, and George Earthy. Doubt: Rob Atkinson.

Really annoying about those injuries - particularly Earthy - hadn’t even played 90 minutes!!!

That often happens with a bunch of new signings in a window, and others leaving.

Agree, most of those are first choice in the match day squad, if not the starting 11. It’s a lot for LM to contend with, especially in defence. Hopefully the neigh sayers won’t be too hard on LM and the team until they’re back…..

I would have Knight over Williams, and try Fally from the start, as I think Armstrong can cause more havoc to defences as a sub in the last 20-30 minutes as they tire, but other than that, I’d like to see this 11 and formation tried for a few games to see if it works.

It’s going to take a while to settle down, and it’s a long season. In the long run I wouldn’t be surprised if fally is a real star for us.

Prefer LM 's selection and set up by far to Ashton's team.

    So do I
I just hope we have enough of a cushion behind us for when Mehmeti comes on mid way through the second half <laugh>
Seriously I don’t think Mehmeti is as useless as you do RP but there’s no way I’d start with him. In fact as I stated in another thread I’d only play him at all if we came up against a team that ‘parked the bus’, with instructions for him to run at the defenders and draw a foul, like Grealish (or if forced to play him because of injury)

A very shaky start and the defence looks disorganized. We need to get way better if we want anything from this game.

Oh well dome Max and a bollocks up has cost us the first goal. We have to stop this senseless passing around at the back because sooner or later we screw it up and today Max is again the culprit of a lousy decision. True Bristol City are reappearing.

Don’t like the team selection and normal service resumes

Manning got his work cut out i say.
He has done nothing to show me he is a improvement
