Look at this, all 10 of our outfield players are in view in this image. This kind of thing was happening all through the game and not just at set pieces. This is genuinely what you might expect to see in a children’s team. To borrow Ric’s words, it’s reckless and stupid, because if I tried to describe it using my own my mind becomes a whirlpool of expletives.
Do you think the tactics before kick off were “piss around with it and do a cruyf turn when you’re the last man” it was a mistake from a player, nothing to do with tactics.
They haven't a clue what they're supposed to be doing. We've conceded 3 in a row from our own attacking set piece, and we were carved open many more times than the twice we conceded. 3 or 4 wouldn't have been unlucky. And If you're gonna play "it's not that managers fault it's the players" then why weren't you saying that last season?
Another view, taken during the original corner phase and before they win the ball back. Who sets up for a corner with their last man at the edge of the D Unbelievable
The number of poor performances at home far outweighs the decent ones last season, 4-2 win over a rock bottom weds wasn't a good performance. This season is worse but give him 10 games with his team and wait and see, although I have massive doubts about 'his' style
I don't disagree that there were a number of poor performances at home but at least there were positive signs too.
He has to have time. But I have serious doubts whether he can turn it around playing so open, and not capitalising on that open-ness with clear cut chances.
Because they haven’t played together, and they’re trying to learn a complex way of playing that probably feels very different to what they’re used to. At least they’re trying to do what he’s asking of them. Yes we’re susceptible defensively, hopefully that improves once the players are more confident in the system and know how far they can push it. I don’t see any point in commenting on last season.
Can someone explain how one pass whether it's on the floor or in the air can completely cut us open time and time again? What is that about? The most concerning thing about thst for me is, that it's notjust g because everyone is up on corners. It happens very often in open play too. What was Walter happy with?
Why have a attacking winger as your last man it does not make any sense at all tactically we are wide open in defence to any long balls when we are attacking.
Most of that defensive unit have been around long enough for us to know they can defend. Though it will take time to get the new boys up to speed, it was far from a team full of complete strangers
I dont think the team is playing well now but under Rosenior we had some very good players but because of his tactics we didnt make the best of the talent
Once they’re confident with the new system I believe the defensive side of things will improve. They’re probably so focused on the possession and movement they’re forgetting about defending we should see an improvement once Hughes comes in.
He probably overachieved with the squad he had up to Xmas, then once the influx came in January we went backwards as opposed to the expected strides forward. I wouldn't disagree with that, though losing Delap was key. But then did Liam have a job on getting the most from a pretty large influx in January also? If Walter needs time to gel players then didn't Liam need the same to integrate 6 or 7 from January also? I've always said stability is key and the one thing I do hope with this squad were building will be a core that provide that. And once you get a competent coach, don't **** him off at the first real setback.
Seen a couple of posts praising Omur but… Yes he is industrious, runs with the ball 3-4 times a game, but can you tell me what he’s done in any game he’s played The only time I thought we looked moderately dangerous was when Palmer came on and knocked a couple of decent crosses in from the right, but even he drifted in field after 5 minutes. It seemed we played most of the game down the left. I don’t get this inverted winger set up. Watched a couple of older videos the other day and seeing Sam Ricketts beat a man, cross at pace to an arriving striker. It causes much more panic. Wingers should be interchangeable to mix things up, we’re not seeing any of that
The last two or three pages have been him calling other posters ‘special’ and having their heads up their arse, along with other insults. He’s a ****.
