I can't believe how Hull are set up here. Every time they lose the ball it's 1v3 on the halfway line. They are miles off it.
I am watching this with my coaching glasses on. I struggle to understand the Hull game plan or style. I can see clearly how Wilder is influencing his side. The Hull press is absolutely horrendous. The press is relatively easy to coach as well. I cant see what triggers they are using or how the midfielders are following the triggers from the forwards. It looks a mess. The right back of Sheff Utd basically just ran 60 yards after a terrible press. Sheff utd are well coached in terms of making a fast transition like you say, and should be another goal to the better. Interesting to see what this new Hull coach does second half. He has good players, but it looks to me like the players are not buying into things. Wilder is a good man manager and has elite players playing for him. Hull need to buy into this new fella.
100% mate. Madness. Watch Hull get a last minute equaliser or something. The bare reality though is they are miles off the level in this game.
Best player in the league imo, interesting that he isn't playing in his best position tho Left midfield won't bring out the best in him, happier if he plays there against us - he's a quality attacking CM (best in the league), just dont see him being as effective fron the left
Comment on BBC from a Hull fan John, Hull: "Goalless in two games, winless in five. That's what happens when you lose all your goalscorers in the summer and fail to sign a proven Championship striker."
Hull were so poor there. I watched a bit of Tim Walters Hamburg side and they were always entertaining for a neutral because of their aggressive but open style of play but they had the best squad in the league and he couldn't get them promoted but even when they lost they were always worth watching, this Hull side aren't even entertaining. Burstow couldn't even get on while they were chasing the game, that says everything about him as a player. If Sheff Utd stay injury free they will 100% be in and around the top 2.
I remain convinced that Wilder is a bit of a fraud. He hit upon a team shape that clicked and he basically rode that one thing till the wheels came off - then tried to do it again at multiple other clubs to even less effect. He’ll no doubt achieve this season but for me that’ll be more down to the quality of the first XI he has than it will be down to his coaching skill. Plus he’s a disagreeable prick too
Totally agree with this, they look like a dog chasing a balloon out of possession, no shape or apparent plan
So hard to gauge the league at the minute. Sheff United man for man should be very good, results are solid, but not great, and they just don’t look especially standout. I just want to get to 10 games and have a clearer idea, we aren’t daft we know we ain’t about to piss this league but every time I see another contender I think ‘we are very close’. For certain, nobody else in the division brought in players the calibre we did potentially on deadline day, if they do well, even a couple of them, then we are real contenders. I currently still think Leeds will probably stretch their legs at some point but at start of season I had Bur let runaway and that ain’t happening now. The top 2 could be anyone from 8 sides. The Lads Leeds Sheff United Boro Coventry Burnley Luton Blackburn None of them are well ahead of us I don’t think. We already have 11 points on Luton. Adding Aleksic and Samed could be really major of they work out.
Stewart on the bench for Southampton, has he been back long? Haven’t been following the lad but would love to see him grab himself a handful of goals in the prem
