Reports in the papers today about Capello not necessarily leaving the post at the end of his contract.

    WTF are the FA thinking?

    Here's the "Executive" board members:

    David Bernstein (Chairman)
    Alex Horne (FA General Secretary)
Sir David Richards (Vice Chairman) (p)
    Roger Burden (Vice Chairman) (n)
    Phil Gartside (p)
    David Gill (p)
    Barry Bright (n)
    Mervyn Leggett (n)
    Michael Game (n)
    John Ward (n)
    Anthony Kleanthous (f)
    Keith Lamb (f)
n - National Game representativep - Premier League representativef - Football League representative

Sorry but has ANY of the EVER played/managed at the highest level to qualify them to make the Capello call?

    Sven
    Steve "dutch speaking" McLaren
    Capello

This trio couldn't manage a piss up in a brewery.

Some dimwit even extended Capello's contract BEFORE the World Cup........jeez a bright move if ever I saw one!

The job does not warrant £6m a year. It needs a good communications PR bod like Trevor Brooking and a decent English coach to do like 30 days work with the team a YEAR! Capello is neither

And no I don't think Arry fits the bill.:steam:

No, its not a full time job. Much of the year is spent watching players in matches, and most of this as at the weekend.

Disagree with Arry not fitting the bill though. Think he is a twat but actually a fairly good manager and with him getting to the retirement age, the england job would suit him best.... as you say not full time.

£6m is too much for a (probably 50%) part time manager. this equates to £115k a week. Or if you accept the 50% estimate a full time equivalent of £230k a week

Capello has the easiest job in the world. I get paid to sit around on my arse and watch football, but not the sort of money he gets!

Agreed. My thoughts if Arry was appointed it could be done part time.

It's sad to think capello has been in charge a while now and still only has basic knowledge of teams outside the top 4, some body who still goes to games to scout ashley cole and Wayne Rooney is not fit for the job

I think it does have to be full time. You have to remember we don't see all the unseen work that they do all year, most of it nothing to do with actually managing the team. Charity work, PR, and so on.

Hopefully they will extend Capello's contract, the bloke is doing a very good job. His record is first class. I'm sick of this "they must be English" bullshit aswell. I'd prefer them to be English but I don't want ****ing Harry Redknapp! He's not the sort of person you want representing your country is he? Plus what's he going to do when he can't just buy a new team and has to manage who he has? Nearly all his success at club level has come at a high price. We're not that good an international team so is he gonna be ok with only getting to the quarter finals? Why don't we sort the real problem out at club level first then maybe we'd have some geniune English candidates. The whole reason we've gone foreign is because your lucky to have two English managers inside the top 10 at any one time. How are they meant to prove themselves if the likes of Man C, Chelski, Arsenal, Liverpool, Man U just keep appointing foreigners?

    Chris Hughton for manager!

Would be like watching your own kid grow up and score the winning goal in a FA cup final against Sunderland. I'd just be so proud.

Right, back to the simple answer is no I don't think so, if you remember when Kevin Keegan first got the England job he was managing Fulham to a landslide win of the 2nd Division and had had his best spell during his time as England manager.
