Since then they have lost three, conceding nine and scoring none. They have, however, progressed to the League Cup third round, where they will face Blackpool away. They sit 20th in the Championship. After losing our first match, then drawing the next two, it was good to get a win on the board before the international break. Those three points moved us up to 12th, a relief given otherwise we'd of spent the international break on the brink of the relegation zone. With Dykes having left, the pressure is now on Celar and Frey to start hitting the back of the net, with Smyth chipping in the odd goal too! “Consistency would be a very big step forward for us. “It is very natural when we sign new players at the beginning of the season, no team in the league probably is showing the highest level that they can. “We are in this process where we need to make sure our good moments, like we had in the second half at Luton, that we can get the best from it, and at the same time when the opposition get some momentum, that we compete better.” “When you get a good result you want to keep going, but at the same time I am very aware that at this moment in the season, and with all the new players that we sign, it was an important moment for us to improve in all the areas that we know we need to improve,” he said. “It has been a useful couple of weeks to work on the pitch without the rush of preparing the next gameplan, but instead focusing on the areas that are important for us. “Every international break is a big opportunity to train on the pitch. I’m a big believer that to create the culture and the standard that we want to create, it is very important that everyone has the mindset that we need to push in training to make sure we perform at the weekends.” Kader Dembélé, Koki Saito, Nicolas Madsen and Harrison Ashby all joined the club in the final two weeks of August, and Cifuentes explained: “I was able to spend more time with new players for me to know them, for them to know me, for them to know each other. “That is the most important thing, to build relations." “This will be a difficult game,” he said. “We know from the way Sheffield Wednesday play already last season and how they started this season, they are about pressing and counter-pressing, to try to be very aggressive all around the pitch, make quick attacks and quick transitions. “That will be a challenge for us. “The fact they had bad results after a brilliant start against Plymouth just makes them more dangerous. “We need to make sure we know what type of game we are going to face, and from there play our style according to our identity.” “It is only a couple of weeks so we cannot expect that everything will go absolutely perfect from now on, but definitely it has been a good period for us.” ...COME ON YOU SUPER HOOPSA!!!
All updated. You can vouch for me if my wife asks why I googled 'Keiren Lee'...looking for the footballer not the adult entertainment actor.
Back to normal football after the bore of the international break...... Only 1 loss in last 9 away games, I think we'll do a number on them.....
Will never forgive the Hillsborough stewards for not letting me in on my £1 under-16 ticket when I was 16 or possibly 17. Hope we win comfortably and they go bust. The steward is probably dead now. Paid £20 to get in eventually to see us lose 1-0 to a dodgy penalty.
I would be happy with a repeat of the scoreline from November 1973: 06 Nov 1973 Queens Park Rangers v Sheffield Wednesday W 8-2 League Cup Urrrr's
I went to that. And the next round, a home match against Plymouth, which we lost 3-0. Cheers @daverangers
Missed the Wednesday game, (didn't go to night games on my own then without an adult and my dad didn't drive so it was an hour door to door on the 207 and longer coming back) saw Plymouth and then Liverpool (Champions) on the Saturday when we drew 2-2 with Frank McLintock scoring the equaliser just before the end in the gloom. It started an hour earlier because of the power cuts soon to be followed by the 3 day week. Gordon Jago put together that great side which Sexton only needed to finesse with the additions of David Webb and Don Masson
3 of us from here flying to Birmingham early Saturday morning and getting the train to Sheffield. Flight and train about 65 euros, not bad. Looking forward to it. Last time I was there was 2004 when we beat them 1-3 to be promoted from League One. The locals were not happy that day.
Going into the break on a high whereas they went into it playing like absolute ****e makes it feel very 1-0 home win.
