I was 16, Deep purple and David Bowie were the 2 things I followed, went to the record shop down the harbour, and thought I will give this a try, Rory Gallagher live in Europe, just blew my mind

To be honest I didn’t really know his music. The ones that did were all shouting for a specific song. The life of me I can’t remember which song it was though.

My idea of the greatest band of all time. Certainly one of the moat influential. Got a ticket to see them at the Barbican next month. First time I have gone since Edgar Froese, founding member died, but the current line up seem to be really modernising their old vibe so willing to throw myself into it.

Quick story. The second video was from a gig at the Lowry in Manchester. Was sensational and there were more than a few legendary musicians there. Not least of which was Brian May, who I chatted to at the bar afterwards for a couple of mins as we waited for a beer. Safe to say he knew their back catalogue as well as I did.

I’ve never been a fan of Thin Lizzy. Tried to like them but couldn’t. I’m sure you’ve heard Metallica’s version of WINTJ?

28 years ago! Where has the time gone?

I remember clearly when I first heard this and it was like dance music had pivoted to a most beautiful melodic place, whilst still being euphoric.
