Good Morning. It's Tuesday 10th September, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road Parker injury crisis ahead of ER trip Scott Parker faces a tough selection dilemma ahead of Saturdays clash at Elland Road between Leeds Utd and Burnley. The Clarets boss currently has nine players on the treatment table, many of whom have missed International duty due to various knocks and ailments. Manuel Benson, Maxime Esteve, Jordan Beyer, Hjalmar Ekdal, Aaron Ramsey, Enock Agyei, Mike Tresor, Nathan Redmond and Hannes Delcroix are among those receiving treatment - it will be interesting to see how many miraculously recover in time for the weekend. Leeds and Burnley have both been hotly tipped for automatic promotion. Any kind of advantage could stand either side in good stead for the long and arduous season ahead. Leeds are one of five sides still unbeaten in the league, whilst Burnley's 1-0 loss at the Stadium of Light see them one point and two places below the Whites in the Championship table. please log in to view this image Coops to pen two year deal with CSKA Former skipper Liam Cooper is set to pen a two year contract at CSKA Sofia later today after agreeing personal terms with the Belgium outfit. The 33yo spurned Leeds offer of a twelve month deal, always insisting he wanted a two year contract. He held talks with Blackburn and Hull, but they too were unwilling to match his demands. Finally, after spreading his search abroad, CSKA agreed a deal that will see Coops through to the Summer of 2026. please log in to view this image
Morning all. Very best of luck to Coops, a terrific servant and captain. I think most would agree hardly the most gifted of footballers but he sure made the very best of what he did have. Players like him, Ayling, Pablo, Beradi will always have a soft spot with the fans and always welcome back to Elland Road
Morning Leeds fans. Best of luck to Cooper. A real trooper who dug us out of some lean times, and a fine captain respected by his peers. He might not have been the best player to wear a Leeds shirt but he always wore it with pride and his name will always be on that list of captains at Elland Road. An achievement he can be rightly proud of.
Does Scott Parker have an injury crisis or has he kept his most influential players away from the internationals to save them for this match?
Morning all Cooper and Ayling, we needed those two in our playoff final defeat, they always ran themselves to the ground. Good luck to Cooper in his new chapter
Exactly this, wasn't there once a rule, if you missed international duty you couldn't play the next league game? Only exception should be if you missed league games pre internationals.
Had him First goalscorer last night, saw Norway 1-0 up and it was someone I'd never heard of. Then Haaland ended up last goalscorer
Yes and no. National federations have the option to insist that any player a club refuses to release for international duty, for an approved international fixture, is unable to play for their club for up to 5 days after the international fixture calendar ends. However the national federation can choose not to impose the rule. For injuries, national association medical teams have to be provided with the players medical records, at which stage, they can insist the player joins the squad, or confirm that they are satisfied that the injury means the player is unavailable. Again they have the OPTION to insist the player is not available for selection 5 days after the international fixture window ends. Of course clubs game the system. However, given of all the players Ell listed in his OP relating to Burnley's injuries, only Esteve and Benson actually appeared in their last game (came on as a substitute in the 80th minute), then it would be an ingenious plan to not play 7 players in the last league game citing they are injured and thus make them unavailable for international duty. Especially as it slightly backfired as they dropped two points at home against their most hated rivals, just so they may be available to play against us.
Just got in and reading this and about to berate Geography Boy Elland. Would love to see Belgium having a go with Bulgaria to fight over which country Sofia belongs to The big worry though is that Aski missed it
If I miss one of the errors in Ell's post, then it probably means I didn't bother reading it. That's my story and I'm sticking with it
I have to admit Doc I read Aski’s reply twice before posting because I was certain he wouldn’t miss an open goal like that
