As would I, as I stated in initial post. What we all want is what’s best for the club in that moment. If KLD can properly fund and progress us as a PL club I wouldn’t swap him. Point of the post was we will have them options if we get there.
Nail on the head there mate. Plenty of clubs have shown that owners can easily mortgage the club, sell future TV revenue, take loans from the likes of MSD, etc. That's all fine if you're improving, or even treading water, but a wound can be fatal and you bleed out. Thankfully we have the recent reminder of Methven's 'business expertise' to keep us real. KLD has taken a basket case and created a club that some will be looking at with envy ... ... Burnley are in chaos with players coming in and out and no real team spirit as far as I can see. They had all that money, went to the PL and embarrassed themselves, that's not for me. Now, this definitely is for me ... "Sunderland will look to secure two key players to new deals in the weeks and months ahead Kristjaan Speakman has confirmed that Sunderland will look to step up contract talks with Dan Neil and Dennis Cirkin now that the transfer window is closed. It has been another positive summer in retaining their young talent, with Dan Ballard, Chris Rigg and Jobe Bellingham all committing to new deals. However, Speakman and the Sunderland hierarchy did sanction the departure of Jack Clarke as he entered the final two years of his contract with no renewal deemed likely." https://www.sunderlandecho.com/spor...ocial&utm_source=Twitter#Echobox=1725776626-1
Exactly right mate. In theory he should be more than able to do it, or could bring in outside investment by selling a percentage and keeping control. What’s certain is, as you say, we don’t want an Everton situation were we are borrowing Peter to pay Paul, then turns out Peter is full of **** and then we screwed. I’d accept one relegation to bag the money; what I’d hate to see is us end up like Norwich bouncing up and down and really having nothing. I mean look where they’ve ended as well now. Not expecting us ever to be chasing City, Arsenal etc, but ‘a club to be proud of’. I know Brighton are in debt, but to their owner, and then there’s Bournemouth doing great. Brighton in Europe, Leicester a few year back. These should be aspirational levels for us over next 3-5 years, surely?
I’d love to see my team having a stab at a European competition in my life time. They just need to bloody well hurry up as my clocks been ticking for a while now And yes I do remember the Cup Winners Cup in the 70s.
Same mate. That’s really end goal for me. If we somehow managed to with a cup be amazing but I’d accept a Euro jaunt, even just the one. Just be an incredible experience, and the pride of seeing our away support doing what we do would be insane. Conference league will do, anything ha.
K If those two are being named as ones they are going to step up efforts to tie down I would assume they are close?
I would like to think more of his father's French clan and his mother's contacts would invest a bit more if we were in the PL.
Yeah you’d hope so wouldn’t you. The family ran Marseille so they have that experience. Marseille is a mental club.
One bloke i know was adamant he was our best player...doesn't talk much about the club and Speakman now we are good
I got absolute pelters on Twitter when I dared have an opinion on Pritchard being “rotten” since we got promoted to the championship, turns out I wasn’t the only one that thought that…
I got pelters on ready to whinge for saying Pritchard was in a pattern of 1 class game, 1 good half, 4 ****e ones then a calf injury.
I thought the lad was fair! Very good at times, his issue, similar to Roberts was, he had graft and craft, but no end product. He also struggled in our midfield for a role. I felt for a longtime we've been lopsided. This season our balance is class. Highlighted by the central midfield options s.
I had a flashback to the bad old days this evening as I went to the SPAL v Lucchese match. SPAL are managed by Andrea Dossena, our short-lived ****e Italian left back. Thankfully the days of mercenaries like him are over. His stint as SPAL's manager will be short-lived as well given the ****e his team have served up in the first three games.
Aye, that's the only reason I remember him. Suddenly his name rang a bell at the match this evening. I thought he never played for us again after but I've just looked him up and he did - 9 times. Just seen the daft get also got arrested for nicking stuff from Harrods
