This is the value of Smith. Someone like Foakes doesn't have it in his locker to bat with the tail like Smith is doing.

 

Hopefully Sri Lanka win tomorrow. It'll be a reminder of Nigel Adkin's adaage; Hard work beats talent if talent doesn't work hard. We've been sloppy and complacent and deserve a kick up the arse.

I think Prest has a good chance of playing test cricket for England in the future. His aggressive style will fit Bazball.

 

Prest is averaging over 71 in the CC this season with a strike rate of over 71. Definitely a breakthrough season for him. Unfortunately there is a lot of competition for the middle order spots in the England team but surely he must be on Key's and McCullum's radar with stats like those. And he's only 21.
