Leigh Leopards owner Derek Beaumont has taken another swipe at Hull FC, branding their heavy defeat at Leeds Rhinos on Friday night as a 'disgrace to the game.' The Black and Whites were hammered 68-6 at Headingley, with Beaumont saying the decision to relegate London Broncos over the Black and Whites should they finish bottom of Super League would be an 'embarrassment' to the competition. Hull suffered their 22nd defeat of the season at the hands of Leeds, with their points difference also taking a battering. London, meanwhile, remain level on points with the East Yorkshire club ahead of Sunday's trip to Huddersfield Giants, with a bottom-placed finish for Hull a genuine possibility. But regardless of such an eventuality coming to fruition or not, Hull's blushes will be saved by IMG, given their status as one of rugby league's seven provisional Grade A clubs. On the contrary, London are set to drop back down to the Championship whether they finish bottom or not, given their poor provisional grading score last autumn.
It's really poor the way this is set up. I'm no expert on rugby league but I do enjoy watching it on tv now and then. From what I'm reading it seems FC are spending as much on backroom staff as players. Is it jobs for the boys? Am I right to think they are signing past it, injury prone players for next season? It's the loyal fans I feel sorry for. Maybe a good time for a new owner with plenty of cash to come in and bale out a club in freefall.
Or cheating, which is what the ref thought because he didn't receive an HIA which we would have had in normal circumstances
The ref will be trusting the physio and doctor to make that assessment. It's very clear in the operational rules. You might disagree with them but Wigan haven't done anything against the rules there.
The problem for FC this year, is that Pearson has massively under invested since 2018. This year, they didn't have a dedicated S&C coach, the physio team were recent graduates with no experience, meaning players were playing out of their own pocket for physio appointments to help injury recovery. They bought basement level players - all of which (apart from 1) has either left already or don't get picked. They are picking 17/18 year olds and expecting to get a tune out of them and its not worked. The kids look, from what I've seen, to have something about them but need some professional players around them which they seemed to have targetted for next year. Seems that the club is going to be taken over anyway from what I hear, and AP has sold up.
Funny watching Rovers players and coaches accusing Wigan of cheating. Rovers were the ones early in the year moaning at the ref for every decision to try and get penalties awarded
I remember not so long ago when City were struggling at the foot of the Football League ladder and the FC fans demanding that someone, anyone, take the 'Hull' from our name because we were an embarressment to the city.
It's cyclical anyway, HKR finished bottom of that multi team M62uper League just four years ago, a pox on both of them methinks. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
AP allegedly bailing out and selling out to a Leeds based businessman who allegedly currently has interest in Leeds Rhinos and current Director of Rugby.
He must be gone. I can't see any way Andy Last would be coming back if Pearson was still at the club next year. He wouldn't even come to his sons academy/scholarship parade because of Pearson.
About time. He has ruined the club to line his own pockets. Had coffee with a coach last week who was recently sacked by him. Very interesting to hear how bad things are there, even worse than I suspected. Hopefully Richie Myler will have the contacts to be able to get things back on track for the club. It's a huge part of the City and should never be in this sort of a state again.
