6 goals and 3 assists last season v 0 goals and 3 assists.

Edozie needs to improve his end product and definitely isn’t PL ready, but he carried significantly more threat and end product than Sulemana last season who barely ever even took his man on. I’ll take a player that is always positive, runs himself into the ground, is tricky and regularly beats his man but has poor end product over a player who rarely even took his man on and so never even had the chance of creating something. If Edozie had end product on top of his ability to beat his man he wouldn’t be at Saints. I’m not convinced he’ll make it at PL level, but a season of first team football should do him good and he’d be a useful player for us back in the championship next season too. Can’t say the same for Sulemana.

Bit gutted for Sulemana about the Ajax move. As I’ve said loads of times he is clearly very talented but for whatever reason it hasnt worked out here.

A loan move may have made him. He played about 50% less minutes than Edozie last year for those who are directly comparing them, at an average of 37 minutes per game he actually played. I’m not normally one for those sort of stats but I think it re-enforces my point about him not really getting much of a chance. Go read back some of the original opinions on him during the relegation season, and the first half dozen or so games he played in the championship before he got injured in the match day threads.

Probably time to move on from him as, like I say, for whatever reason it hasn’t worked out but I also don’t think he’s been as big a flop as people make out

I haven't watched it and he may mention him but I've just realised his old Dundee United teammate Gauld is playing for Vancouver.

He is 28 now and has had a journeyman career, but when he first broke through, I fancied him at Saints.

With the 2 of them linking up again, that's decent attacking options.

Gauld BTW finally won his first Scotland cap last night.

Of course the flip side of your argument is that he got less game time than Edozie because he was offering less.

Oh yeah for sure. I’m not saying that he has been really good or anything, just that there’s clearly ability there that for whatever reason we didn’t get the best out of, and people are acting as if he is Sunday League level or something

If I had to guess I would say it might be an attitude thing. If you read the comments about him during the relegation season and his first few games prior to injury last season they all are mentioning how direct he is and takes his man etc. Which seems to be the chief complain about him since he came back. Maybe he just couldn’t be bothered, maybe he was coming on in games we were chasing (he’s not a sub you bring on when you are winning 1-0, but one where you are losing/drawing) and his skillset relies on space behind which just wouldn’t be there in games last year we were chasing as teams sat deep. Maybe he took the whole “keep the ball you ****s” philosophy far too seriously so just completely changed how he played

As someone else said I think he could be a real asset this year, and better in the PL than he was in the Championship. He has genuine **** your pants pace and after watching Diaz and Armstrong look like they’ve just been picked out the stands in terms of their athletic ability at this level he could definitely be of use.

There's still a tiny bit of me that thinks he might have a part to play.

He actually kind of suggests in the press conf that Gauld initiated the whole deal and did a lot of the persuading and selling the move to him, which is interesting

He got given plenty of chances and never delivered. Shocking signing with a terrible attitude

In complete agreement that he has been crap and a terrible signing (£26m!!), but I have no idea where this attitude thing comes from?

I have never seen anything on the pitch to suggest he has a bad attitude, nor have we heard any rumours from within the club. He has done a couple of social posts which maybe suggest he has unplaced confidence but nothing to say he has a negative attitude.

With ABK & Salisu it was pretty clear from the noises coming out the club that there were issues off the pitch, but I don't see it with Sulemana.

My issue is this injury thing. Last season he was "injured" up to the transfer window shutting and same again this season.

You think he is feigning injury in order to stay at a club where he is out of favour and not playing at all? Makes no sense to me

I assume the idea is he's feigning a minor injury (or refusing to play and the club are saying this to cover for him) because he doesn't really want to play for us any more and/or doesn't want to risk a move away from the club by getting a more serious injury. Now he can't move away he's got no choice but to play for us again.

That doesn't make much sense from his PoV. Plus he agreed to move to Ajax but they messed that up by missing the deadline.

Well I'm not sure I believe it but I think that's what was suggested. The fact he agreed a move fits perfectly if you believe he wants to leave and therefore doesn't want to risk getting injured.

I don't really blame the bloke, he has been treated pretty badly since he signed for us.

Not sure he’s been treated badly, rather it just hasn’t worked out for him (or us). That’s football. It’s not on us to sell him for much less than he’s worth just so he can go to the club he wants to go to. If a club comes in for him with an acceptable offer he can go, if not and he wants to play football in the meantime, he can take whatever loan offers are on the table. Otherwise, he can get paid very handsomely to wait until the winter window and the cycle continues.
