What was your point? - mine stands - PSR is there to maintain the dominance of the biggest spenders ... and there are now 6 that stand out by some distance ... you just got your party crashed by the other 2 ... and have had to play 5th fiddle since the creation of the Premier League ...

Big difference is that they weren't outside Prem jurisdiction at any time over the timespan of the charges ... the cynic in me (and I can't help but be one) wonders whether we got relegated on purpose with a 'bounce back' contingency plan already thought out <laugh>

Was a weird ****ing season - bought nobody before the season kicked off - were then the 'in-form' team just before International break (was it also AFCON?)climbing the table to half-way - then the worst team straight after those breaks ... eventually going down with a whimper ...

Highly doubt a business would happily give up over £100m just to try avoid a PSR charge.

Makes complete sense. Lose £100m in TV revenue by getting relegated so you dont receive a 350k fine and a 4 point deduction.

A lack of hotels does complicate matters.

I actually stuck up for my mate (Chelsea fan) who got into a heated debate talking about footy and the bloke who wasn't aggressive but really animated about Chelsea being scum and banging on about money and ruining football, I pointed out that the modern fan obsession with the finances of their club and FFP is much more damaging. It's ****ing boring and there's more talk about that than what happens on the pitch.

Been saying the same thing for years mate.
Especially online fans, is ridiculous. I choose to just try and enjoy the football aspect of, ya know....football.
When rivals fans banter consists of "haha you overpaid for player x lolz" im like....

All these ****s are overpaid. If you spend your life obsessing over the finances of it, you aren't really a football fan, just a clueless wannabe accountant.
And **** all of what actually goes on with these clubs finance is actually made known to the public anyway.
All these clubs are involved in shady finance deals one way or another, whether its agent payments, bungs, selling hotels, dodgy sponsorship deals with friends etc.

Also loved how, when Roman took over Chelsea, every keyboard warrior from Lands End to John O'Groats became an expert on Russian and Geo politics.

All you really need to ask yourself is which clubs benefit most from FFP / FSP to know why they were really brought in ...

I'm not saying there shouldn't be some financial safeguards in place - but you can do that without necessarily having measures that link spending on players to revenues - all that is achieved by that is that you make the Premier League (any league) less competitive ... now who does that benefit?

Most Premier League clubs and also many Championship clubs are run by Billionaires - either individuals or corporates - they don't need help 'sustaining' - they ain't going bust any time soon ... you could ensure 'sustainability' by having a legally binding guarantee that any club owner has to settle any debts on exiting that ownership - this could be in the form of a financial 'bond'.

The current rules are there to stop another Citeh or Chelsea joining 'the club' ... neither (with all due respect) were really 'Big clubs' until their billionaire owners gave them foundations for success via spending on players... the sort of spending that would not now be possible... and guess what, neither of them needs 'sustaining' now, do they?

Oh of course, FFP isnt about "saving" clubs at all, like billionaire owners are going to let one of their assets go into administration over, what is to them, pocket change. When was the last time a premier league club went into administration anyway?!
It 100% from the start has been about keeping the status quo, keeping the rich clubs rich and the poorer clubs poor.
Telling business owners they cannot invest money into their own businesses in order to improve their commercial performance is against all European business laws any way, and I fail to see how football governing bodies have been able to get away with it. If it seriously got taken to court, UEFA would get their ass handed to them.
But like I said, I like to try concentrate on the "on field" aspect of football, otherwise football becomes a chore to enjoy.
