Why was he poor.... he's a left sided CB covering the runner to the near post of a ball coming in from the right... unfortunately he was just beaten a ball that shouldn't have arrived there...
I and I am sure lots of others are wondering why Hughes has not had any game time yet. Anyone any ideas? Hope he does not turn out to be another Pandur-paid a bunch for him only to sit on the sidelines until we change manager.
Macca's done alight, he does take a few games to get going but plenty of CBs do. He's under rated defensively and he's stopped dithering on the ball. I understand there's a lot of calls for Hughes, but reading a thread on Twitter, one of the mentions was that he can be occasionally error prone (completely normal for a young CB), but given our current situation, I don't think it's wise to be giving away more soft goals. If we can focus on the attacking side initially, I'm sure Macca will make way for Hughes in the coming weeks.
Wow thats a telling stat for a midfielder, as my old boss used to say "the data sets you free". So little involvement in the game for Slater.
Just a point, why would have to be Macca that makes way. Strikes me he's more comfortable with the system and as far as im aware (prepared to be corrected) Hughes is ideally right sided..
Interestingly, Walter played a diamond formation with two strikers and no wingers when he was at Holstein Kiel and Stuttgart. Don’t think he’ll go back to that now we have recognised wingers on both sides. He used 4-3-3 during his entire time at Hamburg too.
Can see big team selection changes come the SU game. I can’t see what he’s trying to implement but he gets till Christmas. The brain teams transfer policy has been a farce and given the coach no chance this month so I’ll wait. Found the football up to now boring and one dimensional give it to Miller hope for the best. To not have spent money on a striker is a ****ing joke we all know that and it will probably cost the coach his job come Christmas.
I made this comment the other day, but it underlines why we really needed a third striker as an option off the bench.
He also seemed to be the focus of part of the warm up with the defenders before the Leeds game. Some sort of drill where he was receiving the ball and moving up to either Jones or the full back to offload.
