Of all the endlessly stupid things they've done this is my favourite. In his mind he looks regal, distinguished and passionate ... ... in reality he looks joyless, arrogant and absolutely pathetic please log in to view this image
It's totally f*cked up as well ... ... some of the lads I was with at Portsmouth are proud Geordies and not all Mags are Geordies. This just shows how totally conned they've all been by Sky, John Hall and their own club.
I always classed myself as a Geordie until John Hall came out with this vile 'Geordie Nation' marketing shyte ... ... now I class myself as 'Durham', as a person not a place if people ask, I don't want to be associated with the Mags. It's quite sad that all Mags think they're Geordies, I'd never call myself a Mackem if I was paid to.
I think I've gathered from previous that you and I hail from the same mining/steel town. I was born in Elswick,so North of the Tyne, and therefore a Geordie by definition, but returned to my family home in Consett a few days later and,no matter where my life has taken me, have always answered the "where are you from" question as North West Durham. I have never, ever said I was from Newcastle, even though various people over these long years have tried to identify me as such, with my accent. The John Hall/Freddie Shepherd years made me cringe, as does the seemingly obsession Sky,Talksport and others have, and have had, with the Mags. I might live to see us top them in the PL....history tells me it's highly unlikely...but, as someone famously said....I have a dream!
When asked, coming from Consett/Stanley myself, I describe myself as being Pitmatic. It leaves them scratching their heads. When asked where abouts do i live, and i'm with my wife, and she answers before me 'near Newcastle', instantly I'm like 'DURHAM!!!!!!'
Dead right mate, I loved that area and still think of it as home. Great post, I've read it three times
I reckon he's on some kind of list, or register somewhere. Maybe more than one. It's just not normal.
Always have referred to my twang as “pittmatic” , because of the sheer size of the County Durham coalfield the vast majority in Durham who we're brought up in the 60,70,80’s had that accent, unless you felt uncomfortable and had to put on a geordie accent to feel accepted by the unwashed
Boo ****ing hoo. So a landowner is doing what he wants with a piece of land he owns directly outside that lopsided **** tip. If the Saudis want it I would make them pay a ****ing fortune for it.
Are you an Geordie ? No Always refer to myself as Durham, north-west Durham or even Derwentside to be precise. These things are called ransom strips for good reason. Club should have bought it when it was for sale if they were sharp enough. **** em Hold out for millions
