I’ve watched that Rigg clip about 8 times now. Kind of move you see in a Champions League or World Cup knockout.
To me, this is exactly why he needs to regularly play at CB despite the incoming Mepham. His range of passing is very good - and with both feet too (that pass is hit with his ‘weaker’ left foot). Shame Roberts didn’t ping that into the top corner.
I'd say they would've been alright with him, just a bit of fun really. They might've been a nugget that might have took it too far but I think they would've been a lot more to have stopped any trouble. Our away fans are superb, the best in the country.
It was the lads I was with who I mentioned earlier. What Shearer doesn't realise is that they'd arranged with LNER to hold the train back ... ... so he might still have to thank Sunderland for getting home Of course he would, all decent people and not the least bit aggressive unless they're defending themselves. Although I'm not sure what would've happened if it was Mags and one of our players tbh.
Might be a daft question but as our home strip didn't clash with Portsmouths in any way why did we play in all white.?
Most likely a marketing/contractual/business decision and/or to make sure the away kit gets plenty of use. While our home socks would have clashed with Portsmouth's socks, our white away shorts certainly clashed with their white home shorts. Its non-league, admittedly, but I know of one side who always wear their change kit (unless there's a colour clash) for away games, whether they need to or not for sponsorship reasons.
I personally think Neil is our most important player. I dont think anyone else can control the game for us like he does from that deep lying position. His ability to link defence and attack is so good. Jobe and Rigg are better with him behind them. I suspect Browne will prove to be too. I think he comes back in personally and is probably first name on the sheet. One of Jobe or Rigg likely make way, depending on how much international football they play, would be my guess. I can imagine lots of rotation this season between the midfielders, but Neil is the big cog in the wheel you probably dont tinker with.
Probably wont do any harm to "rest" a 17 or 19 year old but I bet if one of them is left out they feel aggrieved. Likewise Browne will probably feel he has done enough to warrant staying in.
What a debate to be having eh lads? Talking about who gets to play after every single player has played well enough to deserve a place in the team! I remember the years we were wondering if it was worth bringing someone else.in cause the other were ****e
"I remember"... it was only 3 years ago Really does highlight the incredible job KLD and KS have done!
