I know we’ve had bad times before, but I can’t remember a time when we have been so consistently awful for such a long period, even when we ended up in administration.
Yeah this feels worse. At least there were mitigating factors then. We were genuinely skint and had to play youngsters. Now there are no excuses other than rank incompetence
Adam Armstrong is second in the Championship in goals...but he's also now joint-first in assists. No player in the Championship era has led the league in both stats.
Heard on TSP that we’ve set the record for losing our first 3 games of a PL season. This is the 6th time we’ve lost the first 3. But if you want a positive to that ****ty stat,…despite losing our opening 3 games to a PL season 5 other times…it never led to relegation in that same season.
Ironically, you could argue this for the the positivity thread too. I mean, who doesn't love a happy ending?!
Match report on the beeb mentions that we're only the 8th team to lose ten of our first twelve games in top flight history. Note that's top flight and not premier league. Just incase there remains any doubt about just how poor a start we've had.
A bit facetious but we perhaps should remove Ted Bates statue on a temporary basis until some more long term consistency in accumulating points is the norm. The current setup and results are, frankly embarrassing to his memory and to think how successful he was with way less money etc in getting a foothold in the top flight, dread to think what his opinion would be now.
If it’s the same report that I read I think it also says that none of the previous 7 teams avoided relegation.
