My opinion he gets back in for his ball retention and positioning to allow us to build up from the back. 1st half esepcially there were a few loose passes in our third which went to their players and fortunately they could not capitalise on them.

Harsh on the others but Regis has to make tough decisions - I expect the lad from Bournemouth to play as well.

I love how we came out with intent in the second half

How many sides 1-0 up away from home play cautiously and waste time?

RLB clearly told them to go for it and kill the game

Yes, we played well but we still missed him sitting in the middle of the park. Also frees Jobe to play in his best position further up the pitch.

It's great that RLB has these headaches though!

Just a quick update on the Gateshead branch, I'm involved with, regarding yesterday's match.

177 tickets plus accomodation, pub reservation and travel sorted ...

... not to mention arranging to hold the 19.30 LNER Newcastle train for all Sunderland supporters.

If there'd been delays on the Fratton train, etc, they'd promised an alternative solution.

I just wish I lived closer to there, what a cracking branch,

We stood there and actually laughed at the intensity for the first ten minutes ...

... Portsmouth really looked shocked and went to pieces for a while.

And these were all big lads facing a bunch of kids <laugh>

Did you hear anything about the couple of young lads from that branch who got sly’d after the game whilst in a rush to Fratton?

    Horrible Pompey scum.

I didn't mate but I'll get to know.

That's always edgy going back to the station.

There was a small group of Portsmouth ragging some Sunderland lads but a few more Sunderland drifted over the road.

They weren't after a fight, just giving them a reminder.

It could be linked to that, we were a lot further down the road when it happened. A couple of bursts lips when the lads finally arrived at the station <laugh> They were still singing and heading home with 3 points.

Possibly not if we had a game soon but we've got a break now so the captain gets himself back in the team for me.

    You're probably right mate.

I think Browne was brought in to allow Rigg to come on gradually ...

    ... another Regis plan that's backfired <laugh>

He comes back in for me. What he offers in possession from his deep position is superior to Jobe in that position, even though Jobe was good yesterday especially out of possession.

Jobe/Neil/Rigg is our best midfield currently, which means we have one of the best Championship midfielders and a Champions League experienced midfielder on the bench. Serious options.

Most players don't want to draw too much attention and put themselves under pressure ...

... he seems to want both of those things <laugh>

And potentially a full Serbian international (at 18) by this time next week too.
