Yeah, said similar earlier in this thread when the team was announced. The issue is when you go a goal down. It’s not like we’ve created much playing 4-3-3 anyway

 

At this point I just want a southampton goal. Any will do, so long as it's not an own goal.

 

We probably can’t play 4 at the back without playing 2 DMs in front in Downes and Ugochukwu. Probably need to play KWP at RB and Taylor LB too for proper balance.

 

But the formation was nothing to do with it. We actually do look much better like this.

 

That Ipswich game is looking absolutely huge for Martin already.

I don't buy this notion that he's here for the season no matter what. If we're still goalless and pointless after that he'll be under huge pressure.

 

The board aren't going to sack Martin after 3 games, especially as they seem to think that his way of playing is the way forward for the club. Just have to hope that Martin figures things out...and quickly.

 

It is completely to do with it. If you have an extra body back there we don’t lose the ball as easily as there is an extra option and probably don’t concede the second goal, also means we can build up more successfully with the extra body instead of not having an option and hoofing long.

For the “possession style” that Martin wants to work I think the only option is a back 3, a flat back 4 just gets pressed way too easily at this level

 

He has to adapt. Cannot keep playing out from defence at all cost

 

So looking at the fixture list. Where are the points coming from? Genuinely not just having a rant here but Martins arrogance is going to see us smash Derbys record. This is ****ing embarrassing. Now we get to sit and stew on how utterly dog **** we are over the international break. How the **** are they going to fix this?

 

Don't think many outside a handful are calling for him to be sacked now in fairness.

 

Lose our next two and that will surely grow though.

 

I think Brentford are managing to do the same thing just fine without ****ing it up…
