SSN have just this second reported that Hughes has gone favourite with the Bookies for the Sunderland job.....bugger want MON meself !! p.s excuse me spelling in the title folks dont know how to change it..lol
MON is my first choice too. I'd be happy with Hughes, he's being linked with a short term stint for Wales. Just to help them out.
MOYES would be my 1st choice, I just hope Short will try and get him even if he doesnt pull it off. However, Moyes, MON or Hughes -do any them play good attacking football?
No...but one can hope....but MON does have John Robertson on his coaching staff and he was one of the very best wingers in the game not many better..possibly the wee ginger stick from celtic or george best...............so if anyone can get sess to pass and shoot at the appropiate time and hit the target it will be him.....or is it first to the pie shop!
It has to be Martin o neill. Hughes would be an able second choice but o neill ticks every box I have open. I still feel its his to turn down.
Actually that is a good point, as the chances are they won't just appoint a manager, but also his assistant and backroom crew... Fully expect Eric Black to go also... So who would Hughes etc bring with them?
Fulham fan in peace - and not one of the ones who regards Hughes as the Devil incarnate (which some seem to). Hughes would bring Mark Bowen, Glynn Hodges, Eddie Niedwzwiecki and Kevin Hitchcock. Although Eddie N was a goalkeeper, he isn't a goalkeeping coach. Hitchcock is the goalkeeping coach. If you go for Hughes, expect a clear-out of the existing first-team coaching staff. I think Hughes would be a good appointment. His reputation for not playing good football is undeserved, in my opinion, and goes back to his early days at Blackburn when he did what he had to in order to keep them up. Over the rest of his time there he steadily made them a both a better team and a better footballing team. I'm not saying that he'd be the best choice, but I think he would do well for you. Good luck with whoever you appoint.
I cannot understand the pining on here for O'Neill. You guys are struggling year-on-year financially, yet you would like to employ somebody to manage your team who spent around £120m in his time at Villa recouping only about £35-£40m, not to mention he probably smashed their wage structure. O'Neill spent big money on players like Sidwell, Reo-Coker, Curtis Davies, Fabien Delph and acquired others like Heskey, Beye and Harewood. His best acquisitions Young and Milner, both now departed at a profit of £14m? and Lerner was also a beneficiary of the bindippers overspending on Downing at £20m (£10m profit). The two owners are pretty much on a financial par in terms of wealth, yet Villa tend to turn over significantly more than Sunderland do. It's an absolute no brainer for me, O'Neill will demand too much. Hughes' spending is distorted by his time at MC, he's not a mega-millions type of manager and didn't have the time or quality at his disposal like Mankini does. He's your guy, trust me.
I have just got a bad feeling about Hughes, not exactly getting excited about him and yet another EX-MAN BLOODY U player as manager. suppose it could be a case of 3rd time lucky, I want us to be linked with someone we would think WOW, never thought we "could get him", not bloody Hughesy ffs. If it is him fair enough, bit of a boring appointment though.
Not ****ing Hughes, he's a good manager. I suppose Fergie is probably getting the Glazers to push it with Short so he still has retirement home for his ageing stars, and somewhere to send the cast offs. After viewing the list of potential candidates I hope its Dave Jones. There's a lot of jokes we can make about him.
Could this be the start of something wonderful between us Cyprus? A fellow MoN fan and an agreement of minds? Surely not. Lol I desperately want him to be our next manager and although Hughes wouldnt disappoint, the appointment of MoN would be the best birthday present I could receive this weekend.
Its bound to be Hughes as he is the person I want least. Moyes is first choice for me although I think its unlikely. MON would be ok although I think thats almost as unlikely. I would rather Ian Holloway or Chris Haughton than Hughes. But as with Bruce I will support any manager 100% if they are in rend n white.
Apparently MON had a meeting yesterday with officials in London. Bruce was sacked at 6 pm???? Am I reading to much into this? Happy Birthday for the weekend.
